Soooo... I was informed by another member that this is not a dating site just a site to talk with people. I was kind of disappointed because... well I don’t know about the rest of you... but when I go out on dates from regular dating sites and mention that I am not religious or don’t believe in God men shut down or they look at me as criminal or something 
If anyone here is trying to date, please let me know about your experiences and offer any possible help in this area

I expected all the routine dating site stuff... A profile, a questionnaire, lots of percent matches, opportunities to swipe right/left. Didn't find it.

I found my wife here (or we found each other, I guess). Think of it as a big cocktail party where you can talk to anyone you want about anything, and if you hit it off then great.
It's not a profile mining site, it's a way to engage on a bit deeper level beyond what a bio and pic can tell you.

It's not strictly a dating site. Most dating sites don't have the community aspects though and that's the biggest difference.

That’s what I thought but another member told me it wasn’t... but evidently her from all the responses he was wrong and it indeed is a dating site if you so choose for it to be
Also ... I’m originally from NY (Staten Island) ... still have family in Fishkill and Queens as well that I go to visit often ... raise my children not far from Monsey just up 17 Used to love going shopping at Woodbury before it became so huge!!!
It's not a straight forward date site, but you can join a group called Singles/Mingle/Chat and maybe others. When you spot someone, you check their details and find out if they are just for the group or for dating...good luck, you look good and interesting!

Yes I’ve tried to join that group but evidently I don’t have enough points yet… LOL still trying to figure out how to get points !! I mean levels not points!! Lol
Personally if I was seriously looking I'd stay away from that group. It seems like the vast majority of posts are from people in relationships, or people who are happily single and just want to "mingle". It's great if you like the people and the conversation, but it's not a good place to meet other people who are looking. The "hello" section of the general site has more posts from people who want to meet someone. There are a few other singles groups. I'm not an expert, but they seem to be more about "single and looking"
