I have come to realize there is no where to escape "god talk". I know this is an agnostic site & a lot of folks have doubts & have a hard time being away from ingrained beliefs. Obsession with "gods", whether pro or con, seems like such a waste of precious time.

On the other hand, religion in itself is an interesting topic for some of us - why it exists, why it is so seductive, why some people need it while others don't. And then the history of religion is fascinating, not to mention the philosophy!

Disregard it, don't dwell on it. Though I believe we are in a post-christian era, an era can run a long long time...and it will ramp up when they finally come to know they are obsolete...

That reminds me of "No matter where I go here I am".

About thirty years ago, I was sitting in a Pentecostal Church in a small Alabama town. The head Preacher and his wife had just returned from a vacation in Maui, paid for by the congregation. The Preacher described playing golf with some wealthy businessmen. When they asked him what business he was in, he proudly told them he was "in the God business!". And I thought to myself, he sure is! Then, his wife came out, in a mumu she had bought there. She was big as a house, and looked utterly ridiculous in it. At that point, I had to bite my lip to keep from laughing, as I mused over the origin of the mumu.
It seems a missionary from Boston was prosyletizing out there, back in the 1850s. And he would send letters home to his wife, lamenting about the nakedness of the "heathen". Especially all the young Hawaiian girls running around naked. Well, his wife thought she would do her 'Christian duty', and have the ladies of her sewing circle sew together patchwork dresses, and ship them out to Hawaii, to clothe those poor, naked girls with. When the preacher got them, he distributed them amongst the island women, only to discover his wife and her friends had made them all in extra-large sizes! When he asked her about that in a letter, she replied "well, you didn't tell me what sizes they wore!".
The God business sure has its funny moments!

Maybe, maybe not.

Like you, possibly, I don't take much time out to think about my lack of theist beliefs.

This is why this is not a waste of time.

Right now you live in a time where if you live long enough, you will live forever. This doesn't mean you will end up as a 400 year old wrinkled bag of skin and guts. No, it means you have a chance at being 28 again, for hundreds of years.

Religions have a control over people's thinking. Populations believe, when they die, they go to a special magic place. In that special place, their young again, they play harps with naked flying kids. It's just really wonderful. They can't wait to get old and die.

This is why for the rest of your life you are going to be old, deteriorated and blessed with a declining quality of life.

This is why growing an atheist community is important. Non theists are usually pro peace and pro science. Theists are commonly the opposite.

The greatest killers of all humans were Christ and Mohamid. With the assistance of Mother Nature, they are putting you in a body bag now.

Please don't go down without a fight. You look tough. Help.

I find it easy to get away form god talk. I just stay away from other people.
