That's the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. If it were because of lack of soap and water all those smelly guys passing me at the store would be in big trouble.

How do you know that they aren't in trouble? 😁

I highly doubt that cleanliness had anything to do with this...our bodies are pretty adept at fighting off all sorts of things without this obsession for excessive cleanliness...it seems people in the USA are way more concerned about this than other countries because of marketing...just think of all of the products that we "need" to smell good, get clean, etc. From head to toe, there are tons of them...

Unless your job is a really filthy one, this is crazy...I doubt many men expose their penises to such dirt and filth to that extent...

Sadly, in America the majority of men are circumcised.

@FrayedBear Yes...they are brainwashed into believing it is cleaner...it is mutilation IMO

@thinktwice that's because the barbaric practice is mutilation of a person when they are most in need of protection. IMO the greatest betrayal of trust only exceeded in depth by parental abandonment.

@FrayedBear People in the USA are appalled when they read of mutilation of sexual organs of women...how did we come to accept it in men? I just don't get it, but as is customary, it will take time to change and I am glad to see many opt out of the procedure for their sons...it will take a few generations before seeing an uncircumcised man will be the norm

@thinktwice I suggest the how was religion accompanied by prurient notions on sex only for procreation and masturbation being an absolute taboo.

I looked at the articles about it and they are amputating them in men over 60 who get cancer of the penis.

Brazil has a president crazier than our own. Is'nt that reasuring? There are more countries with crazy, greedy presidents than not, I'm afraid.

Unfortunately, countries all over the world are imploding. I (and historians) blame this on overpopulation and excessive cultural diversity. One extreme we have here is that, even with serial rapists no one can be castrated (physically or chemically) even if the perpetrator wants it.

@JackPedigo Can you clarify a bit on that? Which countries are imploding because of cultural diversity? And which historians have claimed this?

@CeliaVL The book 1491 showed what happens when a nations loses it's sense of homogeneity when it is filled with people with different cultures and languages. I have studied the effects of population growth for over 25 years. I just found a DVD I had forgotten I had from PBS "To the Contrary" with Bonnie Erbe about how so many different food cultures in this country has actually made us into a food import nation. This comes with a loss of being able to control the safety of our foods and dependent on other countries for this basic commodity. Like everything else immigration and diversity is a very complicated issue and too many of us try to simplify it simply because it feels right.

@JackPedigo Monsanto and Beyer have been chemically castrating people with their agricultural sprays for a long time. And don't get me onto the effect of Agent Orange.

I wash my willie daily. No worries here.

I leave it for when I have a bottle of wine.

@brentan please explain.

@Bierbasstard I assume that you use the word "cheese" as a euphemism for smegma? I believe that they are now doing research on how well smegma prevents the infection by HIV.

One way of reducing population and rapes. Nature always finds a way.

I kinda find this unlikely. Humans lived for millenia without washing. Natural floral n fauna of skin tends to help clean areas.

@Amisja What about Candida infection leading to strangulation of the penis which then leads to other ugly situations like gangrene?

We were also able to survive diseases that we no longer can thanks to 'modern' medicines like anti-biotics. We always try to outsmart evolution but, in the end, it will have the final say.

They did live without washing. They also died young. In 1850 the average lifespan in the UK for women was 42 and for men it was 40. They didn’t survive disease, they often simply died of it.

Link: [ons.gov.uk]

then again, ppl millenia ago were not exposed to the carcinogens in our food & environment. those that didn't die young probably had strong immune systems, unlike today.

@FrayedBear Candida causes strangulation of the penis? I thought it just caused painfull redness and itchy painful bumps.

@JackPedigo penicillin has no effect on candida, hiv or cancer.

@Kojaksmom No. The foreskin can also dry and constrict into an ever-tightening O ring which can eventually result in strangulation and decay through lack of blood flow. It can also result in preventing foreskin roll back which can result in urine contamination creating further infection with candida. Attempting to force the skin back can result in tears and bleeding of the torn foreskin which again opens another avenue for infection.
The one shot candida tablet taken orally usually will fix it. That, however, has only been a recent addition to the pharmacy war chest.

@FrayedBear That's right. Diseases evolve and anti-biotics are losing out.

I would question this.

So would I. You know how Brazilians are given to exaggeration.

In 1961, I wrote a bawdy song about a rash on a chopper that was cured by the quack just chopping off your chopper.

Ok... now we need the lyrics.

@bigpawbullets Agreed.

@FrayedBear, @bigpawbullets I'm not inclined to be banned from the site, just yet. It was based on the Elvis Presley song "One of those days, boys."
When I have time, snd I'm on my desktop machine, I may type up what I remember of it.
