What is your opinion on Catholic schools? Are they forms of modern brainwashing?
My only experience with Catholic (and more general) religous schools was in middle and highschool. Where our sportsball teams had to play either in tournaments or the broader league play.
Every time, with out exception when we were forced to play away, at their field or court. They played dirty, punching, kicking, blocking and fouling illegally. And the referees were in on it.
I recall getting fouled out of a game claiming I fouled a kid doing a layup (this happened to be basketball). I was literally six feet away form the gomer and he stiffed the layup. With no one around him!
Another time in basket ball I got a concussion when both centers elbowed me in the head and threw me down on the court. No fouls, no expulsons..
And after the games, no hand shakes. Some slapped your hands away during the line ups.
Brainwashing tribalism of privileged private schools.
Parents and church officials want to keep on with the brainwashing/indoctrination, so they establish schools to further their religion. I think it is a poor way to educate children, and a religious school (of any type) is not going to offer a realistic science-based education.
Absolutely! I spent K - 8 in a catholic school. I was taught by nuns, I had to attend church first thing every Friday morning then again on Sunday. It was ALL brainwashing. It took me several years of my young adulthood to clear that shit from my head.
All religiously oriented schools engage in the indoctrination process.
There is a certain amount of brainwashing in all organized religions, the catholics have just fine tuned things for others to model after.
The really sad thing is child sexual abuse does seem to have found a home with the catholic belief system. The failure by those in charge to stop it is truly disgusting and really puts the lie to their 'religion' IMHO.
Even public schools are going to use certain techniques to exert control or forward ideals over their charges.
