I am not an Atheist, I am Agnostic. There is a difference, actually a huge difference.
Yes it is but to most Christians if you don't believe and God then you're automatically a atheist...
Nostic or agnostic is a basis of knowing a/theist is placing of belief. Most people are agnostic atheists and frankly a lot of people are agnostic theists. The nostic theists just make themselves look bad.
If we use the definition of an 'atheist' as being someone for whom the evidence for god[s] is not convincing, then all those who aren't actual 'believers' fall into that category & the term 'agnostic' is not needed.
@Duchess_Nyx - It simplifies things if we narrow it down to the two choices: Are you convinced god[s] exist or aren't you ? If you aren't you're an atheist. There's no need for any half-way stage. That's the way I look at it, but you can use any definition that suits you.
@Duchess_Nyx - I agree there's no real 'evidence' but 'believers' will offer things like a tree or a beautiful sunset, or even the cosmos itself, to support their case. Those of us who are a tad more critical will put those down to the wonders of nature & will not be persuaded that there are gods by such 'evidence'.
I’m only 99.9% sure all that shit is BS but I’m still leaning towards NO GOD(S) 100%
Many of us are Agnostic or Free Thinkers here.
My perception is that agnostics don’t care one way or the other if there is a god and atheists care very much that there isn’t.
The difference is, Agnostic is about knowledge or lack of knowledge, Atheism is about belief or lack of belief.
Being Agnostic gives me all the reason I need to be an Atheist.
I am a Agnostic too. The difference being I am a Atheist with hope. I believe all major religions are wrong and hope that someday we will discover the right one. I believe the Buddha has shown us the pathways to enlightenment but this to has become corrupted with religious type beliefs and superstition, but at least it is a pathway that I find somewhat acceptable.
i'm what Albert Camus called the "absurd" man. Google it.
