I lived in Arizona for many years.
@Amisja I never knew that. Too bad we did not meet earlier. I lived in San Diego from 1982 to 2005

No holiday here in the US. I have two doctors' appointments today. With any luck, I will have a new insulin pump. Gin later on tonight. Why is your day off called a bank holiday?

Because the banks close and hence no business can take place, consequently everything shuts. Having been a ward based clinical practitioner for most of my working life, bankers and Christmas etc, were just another day. Even weekends are a new adventure for me!
Three day weekend in the US. Memorial Day is the traditional start of the summer.

@Marionville Spain has sufficient holidays without adding more. The next big event is "noche de san Juan", on June 23, for St John the baptist.
