Beautiful animal

Yup! Coyote! You can tell by their "what-are-you- lookin- at?" expression! Indians say they will be the last animal on Earth, because they are the most adaptable!

Don't believe those here that say you don't have to worry about them. I have them on my farm, and they certainly will go after your small pets, and have been known to stalk children. They are opportunity hunters, and if they have been seen in a rural housing area, you can be assured they can and will take pets. They have been known to kill young Black Bears and Bobcats, your House Cat or Schnauzer would be easy pickings for them. They have become a problem for Sheep farmers here as well as us Horse and Cattle owners. Contradictory to someone else here, they are not territorial, except for their den area. We actually are considering getting a couple of Donkeys to put in the pastures because they will diligently defend horses and cattle against them if they come around. We've already noticed a major reduction in our Deer and Wild Turkey populations sense they moved in 4 or 5 years ago.. This is no joke. DO NOT leave house pets out at night.

Very cool! Sure looks like a coyote to me. I can remember the coyotes howling every night back in rural Iowa as they would answer a train whistle passing through a nearby town. I enjoy seeing our wildlife up here in Alaska. There used to be a fox near by my house. Moose are so common you would not pay attention if they were not so dangerous. Saw a car-moose accident yesterday on a major state hwy in the middle of Wasilla and the car was totaled - with smashed windshield and caved in roof - the moose was on the road dead. The police were just arriving. Hope nobody was hurt... sadly it happens often up here.

We have them in our yards...they are pretty much territorial and will roam a very large area...sometimes it is months before I see them again...as long as they have natural food, they will not normally be a nuisance and eat your cat or tiny dog or garbage...

They love cats every 10 years they sweep through our area and eat all of our kitty cats fortunately I'm a dog person although if the dog is small enough they would probably eat it too

Yup.. They’re generally nocturnal. And I don’t think it’s as much a case of ‘they were here first’ as it is, they meld well with the excesses of ..western civilization. Cats, cat & dog food, garbage cans and shelter…

Coyote. I had a coyote/chow mix. He was the smartest dog I ever had.

We even have coyotes in central NY

We love our coyotes!!!!! We have may be a dozen or so (we think two packs) on our property and I still get very excited when I see one of them out and about. We live on farmland but they do get into the towns now and again. My friend had one on her driveway in a local town and she couldn't get to her car to go to work (scared she might get attacked).

Yes, it is. It's not too weird; in densely populated areas they can be bold. Now, if you see one chasing a roadrunner, be very suspicious of any new tunnels you encounter.

Looks like one and, yes, they are around even in Seattle they have been spotted. But they are not allowed on the islands. Too many sheep herders.
