I'm curious about what people on this site feel about the simulation hypothesis. In all honesty, I find the argument somewhat valid. As far as belief systems go, it is the most logical and by far more believable then any religious/spiritual postulacion yet contrived. Again, I would love to hear any feedback whatsoever even if you're adamantly dismissive of the concept, provided you do so with respect and decency. Thank you

i have never heard of the simulation hypothesis so i cannot comment on it, itself, but i can certainly wonder why one needs a belief system. having a belief system seems iffy in and of itself, regardless of what that system is.

What makes u find the argument valid ? What makes u find it " logical " and believable ?

Eh. Some links would be nice. I have watched DeGrasse Tyson talk on the idea, but he hasn't shown any specific evidence that I know about. Makes for a good story: we are sitting, forgotten, in a closet after some alien 7th grader placed third at the science fair. At some point things will degrade and holes will start to open up sucking we little simulated people into the darkness of nothing. Or, maybe not. We live, we die, our energy is released with our decaying cells and the nutrition that things obtain from eating our dead bodies.

If there is an alien civilization or entity powerful enough to simulate reality down to the quantum level, then how is that any different from theological concepts of divine pantheons or the Prime Mover creating heaven and earth? The evidence for either is the same.

I have no use for such theories.
I think they're nonsense, with nothing to support them.
I am most definitely adamantly dismissive of that nonsense.
