Argument from young Christian . . . 1. Young people should avoid masturbation and premarital sex.
2. Only married people should be allowed to have sexual pleasure.
3. Teens should not be taught about either. Period.
4. Teens who get pregnant or get a STD deserve it.

How in the world do we get past this anachronistic thinking?

Why do I bring this up? This type of thinking is embedded in the political decision-making and educational practices across much of the nation. Frankly, it's embarrassing and frustrating.

it's not even about sex it's about control, people are very sexual creatures.
if you can inspire Believers to feel guilty that's one step closer to Total Control.
perhaps early Christians were rebelling against the Greeks or the Romans who had very healthy views on SEX, the Christians have always repressed it.

Ignorance, nor denial, has every led to anything positive.

Asking "why" is always a good strategy.

My experience is that these types of people use circular logic..it's wrong because the Bible says so, and if you ask why, they repeat the same answer. They usually have no idea which verses they are referencing, and seem unaware of all the other laws in the Bible, like stoning people who pick anything up on Saturday.

@birdingnut I cannot think of a single verse in the Bible that forbids masturbation/self-
pleasure. Do you recall that reasoning?

@ElusiveMoby Sadly, there are many verses in the ( ISIS) Christian Bible forbidding wasting sperm:
Leviticus 15:1-33
The Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying, “Speak to the people of Israel and say to them, When any man has a discharge from his body, his discharge is unclean. And this is the law of his uncleanness for a discharge: whether his body runs with his discharge, or his body is blocked up by his discharge, it is his uncleanness. Every bed on which the one with the discharge lies shall be unclean, and everything on which he sits shall be unclean. And anyone who touches his bed shall wash his clothes and bathe himself in water and be unclean.

Genesis 38:9-10
But whenever Onan had sex with his brother's wife he would spill his semen on the bed, so as not to give offspring to his brother. What he did was wicked in the sight of the Lord, and he put Onan to death.

@birdingnut Looks like women are exempt😂

These statements are all based on assumptions. You could ask the young Christian "Why?" Hopefully, that will get them thinking freely.

Must the married people only have sex with their partners or can I be sexed by the man next door if he is also married

Now that depends on you and your spouse.😂

There are not so many differences between the Right Wing Evangelical Americans and the Muslims. They are closer together in their thinking than either would care to admit. Frankly, I don’t know what the answer is...thankfully here in the UK, we left this backward thinking behind about 60 or more years ago.

We Americans are inundated by this type of thinking. With a large hard-working, poor Hispanic population in my community, they insist their teens avoid contraception as well as sex. That's why we have the highest teen pregnancy rates in California.

Stop evangelical Christians from government position
