Hey folks. Today I got engaged to the guy I started talking to on this site a year and 5 months ago. So, it can happen for sure. Never thought it would, but glad I took a chance on this site. May the odds be always in your favor.

Was he LD or local? I'm guessing the former....I've been on here two and a half years and have never met anyone in person. Not willing to try dating LD, so I really doubt it will ever happen for me with no new women my age joining in my area for the last two years.

Local.

@MyLiege Extremely lucky then, congrats...

Why are 50 something Atheists not open to 60 something Atheists ?? We retirees have the time to be supportive of final career years and the wisdom from experience of challenging situations our younger peers may just now be facing...we are patient good lovers eager to learn new love styles and might know some kisses youth may have missed

@GreenAtheist Beats me man, but I can tell you that on Match, at least in my experience with women in my area, 50 something women will not date a man who is 60 or older, even if they are 55. I'll date 8 years older, but the only women who will date someone my age are at least in their late 50s.

@TomMcGiverin rules people invent harm potentials

@GreenAtheist I don't think those women are too worried about missing out on guys like us, their rules only seem to bother us.

@TomMcGiverin I keep giving and some only take worst is the silence we get while reading how immature boys mistreat them on their dates they choose passing us by

@GreenAtheist, @TomMcGiverin I myself would prefer to not date someone younger but have also found that the retired men are looking for also retired women or at least women with a lot of flexibility of schedule.

I would posit that after a few times of being rejected due to their employment, they would stop bothering with older men.

@Lucy_Fehr You're probably right. I have found that in the dating game, assumptions, no matter how ignorant, incorrect or inaccurate, or narrow-minded, seem to rule the day for most people's thinking rather than being open-minded, Everyone is so quick to assume the negative about others that they have yet to get to know. It's a miracle that anyone gets past that and connects. Also there is so much cynicism that all men are lying until proven innocent, which may well be based on bitter experience, but even if it is, why are those women even bothering to stay on dating sites wasting their time and that of men when their attitude is so negative that they are never going to connect with anyone?

And yes, I don't doubt it goes both ways, yada, yada, yada.........

@Lucy_Fehr I am only retired from my day job....not wanting to soak up "her" calendar or needing lots of personal time.... all the complaints I read here how women 39 to 79 don't fit me except the age ASSUMPTION.....how hard is pillow talk on the phone ? Planning the next 2 dates taking turns with cherished activity ? Two can trim veggies fruits cook and pop a cork faster than one....my shower has lots and lots of elbow room for two lovers to get squeaky clean.....but no means no and good Atheists don't have a prEyer with solitary women licking their wounds of theocracy

@TomMcGiverin, @GreenAtheist, I can't speak for anyone but myself, but age isn't as important as compatibility, to this 50-something woman.

For example, musical tastes can vary widely, but what you like can be influenced by your age, or the genre/era that had the biggest impact on your life. You don't want to be with someone who likes bad music, or hates what you love.

I have many coworkers, friends, family, all in their 60s, but only one I can even talk with about music. let alone go to a concert. Some 60-something friends like to spend their weekends, and money, at the casino. I hate casinos, and won't go. The list of incompatibilities goes on and on.

I think you both need to scrap your "preferred age range" and just figure out what/who you like.

@Ms_McSteven perhaps Tom is seeking his age range future love BUT I AM VERY OPEN to a Feminist Atheist musician adult.....I would be a very good house spouse caring for children, grands, companion animals fish birds but not reptiles

@Ms_McSteven I think my profile reads 39-79 but all she needs to be is eager for peace through green jobs proud of her voice and loves a tall giant Cherokee healer...me
