A new bowl-shaped roof design gives people in desert climates free water and air conditioning.

Even the smallest quantities of rain flow down the concave roof, maximizing water collection while providing shade and airflow between the bowl and the inner roof.

The water it collects is stored in tanks in the walls of the house, cooling the walls and insulating the house.

The Iranian architecture company BMDesign Studios hopes the design will help provide water security in a part of the world that receives less than a third of the global average for annual rainfall.

Great idea plus it looks cool also

I like the concept but you trade off roof top solar potential. Water may be the bigger issue in desert climes.

Neat design!

May not hold up to the stroner winds coming with climate change. But, I do otherwise like thw concept

They could make the house impervious to natural disaster weather events by mounding the profile into a dome shape and have sliding portals and side drains in the rooftop bowels to siphon off excess rainwater.

Also, they could use hempcrete legoblocks for quick building results since they can be assembled like Lincoln logs, don't mold, insects avoid it, have extremely high insulating qualities.
