I FINALLY PULLED THE TRIGGER --

Well, I did it. I joined the other side and registered with the Christian Forums site.

I like to read through the posts there because it gives me a kick to read some of the stuff they discuss but, damn, I often find myself itching to reply to things I find especially egregious. I usually dismiss it but I was reading through a post that claims god's existence is proven by the very existence of the universe. He then offered up all the usual tired arguments as proof.

That finally did it. I registered so I could point out where their thinking is off. There's so much rubbish on display there that there has to be some push back against it.

There's an Introduce Yourself thread for new members. I can't decide if I should introduce myself to the community or just start arguing with them. All the other intro posts are from believers or those seeking religion so I'm kinda wondering what I would say.

I was thinking "Greetings Xians. I'm here to point out why everything you believe in is wrong."

Too subtle?

Edited to Add

I honestly don't expect to last there very long given how touchy they are and how sweeping the site rules of expression are. We'll see.

I feel the same....I've joined "Conservative Bless" on FB...a site for Conservative Christians....mainly to debate them.

Debating is not "trolling"....Trolling is throwing out easy bait to "hook" them in to anger and absurd responses....

That's not where I'm at.

I, too don't expect to last long there...but I do try to "debate" those who name-call and label me as "trollers".

I'm sure some have "blocked' me -although I have counter blocked them when they mention something personal that they had to get by going to my home page.

But it's not just a "fun" thing for me...it's the "teacher" ethic in me that makes me do it.

Life must be getting boring?

@FrayedBear My day goes by quickly....and I enjoy my computer time. Not boring, at all!

@Robecology how could it be if you are stirring up xtians - almost as much fun as stirring up houseproud lovers by leaving the wet towel on the bathroom floor or the toilet seat raised? 😁

Give 'em hell. LOL

Aside from subtlety not being your strong suit😂, (no offense)

at this point I couldn't take more than a few minutes of the nonsense on that site. More power to ya if you can talk some sense into them, but as House said...

House is wise. No, they can't be reasoned with but they should still be challenged.

@Sgt_Spanky I hope you can get some of them to ask the simple questions and seek answers instead of dogma. It wasn't until I challenged myself, that's when my beliefs started to change.

Congratulations! You are now an official double-agent for the International Atheistic Agnostic Conspiracy! Now, what you do is ask them questions that will stimulate their thought processes, like : "Why do Humans have tail-bones?". Or, tell them jokes, like: "What's white n silver, n shoots across the sky?", "The Second Coming of Christ!" Also, say " Magawagamugwump!" a lot! That way, they'll know you're one of them!

All good advice that I will consider. Magawagamugwump!

Do you have a link to your laugh a minute collection?

Easiest thing to do is go there and click on my name, then click on it again in the pop-up and then click the Postings tab. Everything will come up. Here's a link to the thread I posted yesterday -- [christianforums.com]

Interestingly, this is a re-post of a topic I posted here that died out after just two replies. In the CF, it's been going for over 40 replies so far. I'm gonna try re-posting some other failed threads and see they find new life there as well.

@Sgt_Spanky thanks.

@Sgt_Spanky laugh a minute, nay every 15 seconds!

@Sgt_Spanky , I couldn't do it but I'm happy you are taking them on. On the bright side I can get unlimited Christian counseling, by phone, for the low low price of $35. per week. Talk about phoning it in :😉

@freeofgod perhaps a panel should be organised to keep their phone line swamped 24/7 x 52?

I joined a "we love Trump" site to try to understand the mindset of those people but I didn't last long. To be a UK member of the site I also had to be a climate change denier and supporter of Brexit. I think you will find it so frustrating that you will very quickly give up.

Hell, I might get banned before I even reach the point of giving up.

Just see how far reason gets you it's a very touchy subject with some .

I have actually found that I could agree with some left-wing Christians. His interpretation of religion is radically different from most.

It comes off as arrogant. If your intent is to meet arrogance with arrogance, then that is probably OK. I'd be more like "prove it" . . . .

THHA Level 7 June 30, 2019

My posts aren't being received as arrogance so I think I am proving it.

There is no better way to take in all the angles than by jumping in and confronting them . . . I've always seen it as a challenge, but I am afraid I would probably last a few seconds at most in that forum, because I am overly blunt with my responses, ha ha

@THHA I'm ass-deep in a 'There's no God' discussion that I started and so far, no one's nose is out of joint due to an extra layer of tact I'm applying that I wouldn't ordinarily bother with.

WOW, into the lions den with only facts to defend you, I wish you well

I'm going to have to tip-toe my way through. Their mods appear to be easily triggered so I'll need to be less blunt than I'm accustomed to being. I'll need to think of a much more polite way to say "How can you believe this shit?"

@Sgt_Spanky I guess it's always better to know ones adversary. I think I heard that in a Star trek episode 🤔
