One thing that troubles me about this "Homosexuality is natural, loads of other animals do it" argument is that it's only a matter of time before someone says the same about paedophilia. Either someone anti-LGBT trying to make the connection between LGBT and child molestation, or from one of the organised paedophile groups that's trying to get their interest in children legalised. There is no age of consent in the animal world.

The same argument could even be used to attempt to legitimise rape, since that's effectively how a number of species (e.g. dogs and dolphins) sometimes reproduce. Somebody's going to raise this at some point.

Part of being human is balancing our instincts against doing what's right. It is one of the things that sets most of us apart from animals. Clearly, rape and child sex abuse cause physical and psychological harm to the victims. But homosexuality between consenting adults causes no such harm. All of the arguments against are based on a religious morality that's fixated with breeding and can't accept that sex can be an expression of love, a means of bonding, or simply good old physical pleasure.

Well you coudl say homosexuality is natural and harmless as long as it is between consenting adults.

Those who make th eslippery slope arguemtns that homosexuality will lead to pedophilia, bestiality or other unaccepted form of sexuality always leave out the idea of consent.

Super agree. Haha

Many religious people will tell you that you are wrong. Then they will explain why homosexuals are dangerous and inhuman, after which they will proceed to restrain you, torture you and kill you if you do not comply with their beliefs.

Speaking as a bisexual and agnostic I have nothing against homosexuality. Homosexuals just want equal rights. They don't want to convert people over to their way of life. Religion on the other hand...

I suppose there are some exceptions on an individual basis. Some gay men would love to 'turn' straight men that they fancy. Though I suppose the same is true of straight men and gay women, straight women and gay men etc.

But no, LGBT+ folks aren't trying to play a numbers game (to amass the most followers) like religion is. They aren't actively trying to convert people in large numbers, and certainly aren't willing to use violence to convert whole populations, as religion often has historically, and still does in some parts of the world. It doesn't employ 'thought policing': not only telling people what's acceptable behaviour, but what's acceptable thought and belief, like religion does.

But perhaps being stuck so deeply in that mindset, religion fears that LGBT+ people are trying to convert others to LGBT+ because that's what Gay Jesus would do.

(If Jesus ever existed, I doubt he'd have put up with half of the shit that comes out of modern day organised religion.)

1,500 species according to another source. True, 1,499 of them don't have a problem with it, while the other has religion.

Religion wants to control your breeding. It relies on a cycle where you pair off, have kids, and indoctrinate them into the same belief system, to do the same when they're old enough.

Religion's real problem with homosexuality (and masturbation, and in some cases, contraception) is that it doesn't serve religion's business agenda by breeding more followers. So no happy feels from your rude bits, unless there's at least some chance of you putting another bum on a pew.

Yeah, I thought 500 was an old number. I suspected that it had incred a bit as more dta was collected.

Me too. As they say "practice makes perfect"... lol

Evidence is accumulating to indicate that sexual orientation and gender identity have physiological components which may well be strong and pervasive in these characteristics. The video concerns gender identity primarily, but the same sort of observations have been made concerning oeientation as well.

Uhhhh, both are completely natural:
wonder + reverence → religion

honoseexuality,ha ha ha

I had no idea you were a hono! What the hell is a hono? 🙂

A homo is a kind of typo.
