Beware of Legal Deceptive Food Labeling Practices
Apparently, the food industry is not only invested in the multi-billion dollar sugar industry, they also appear to be heavily invested in the multi-billion dollar health care industry, because they uniformly bombard us with excessive added sugars in all the processed foods and even legally use confusing deception in ingredient labels so we'll buy and consume them anyway.
In spite of over 50 years of highly successful health information manipulation, the truth has gradually leaked out that a diet consistently high in sugars and carbohydrates is the cause of diabeties, obesity, and cardio-vascular disease, and increasingly apparently also brain related disabilities. AND, SURPRISE, natural fats and oils are basically healthy, particularly lard, which has a chemical makeup very similar to breast milk.

For all those struggling to pursue the truly "healthy diet", especially those desiring to minimize excessive "sugars" and starches (carbohydrates), AND if you are diabetic or just trying to proactively minimize sugars in your diet via either Ketogenic (keto) or Atkins diet, YOUR BEST BET is to focus on the GLYCEMIC INDEX (see glycemic index comparison table below).
Although it definitely IS a pain (thanks to the deceptive practices), be sure to read all food labels with a skeptical eye, keep a notebook, and research the truth of every term that you are not 100% clear about it's actual and complete meaning.
OF PARTICULAR ATTENTION:
Please note, as I have found, that when food labels state "sugar free" or "no sugar added", the product will in fact contain "maltodextrin", which is worse than "sugar", and or "dextrose", which is only an alternate name for "glucose".
They can legally get away with doing this only because "sugar" is the established "common name" for "table sugar", which is "sucrose".
You should know that "Sucrose" is a "disaccharide" (or two-sugar) molecule of "glucose" bonded to "fructose".

Another deception is using words like "dehydrated cane juice" instead of "sugar."
Cane juice is not sugar, it contains a lot of it, but is so delicious.
The town where I came from was a huge producer of sugar cane, very easy to find freshly pressed juice with pineapple or lime.
Of course it is high sugar, so you drink once in a while when you go run or walk around the river =)
Basically stop buying processed food. If you want a cake mix the ingredients and make it, if you want a nice meal, make it from natural products. You can make really good and healthy food in no time, I can make a cup cake in less than 10 minutes flour eggs etc. Is faster than going to the shop.
It is not that much expensive and you do not need to go full thin foil hat on ultra natural-organic-clean stuff, just go for the raw ingredients.
If you eat your fat from a piece of meat, you won't be able to eat enough fat to make harm basically
Thanks for this it links with "@. When did you change the program to prevent posts being made to multiple groups?"
As a long-time diabetic (type 2) I find the Glycemic Index to be a Horrible indicator! For just one example, it rates potatoes as a good food for me, and rates sweet potatoes even higher! Plus a lot of other foods that are just too high in carbs for good blood sugar control. You will Never see starchy vegs on Atkins for a reason!
