I wonder whether there are people in here who ever tried to escape atheism or irreligiosity and convert to some religion.
When I was 4.6 (±.1) I made an attempt to become some sort of Christian or at least religious. I gave up about 4 months later.

The extreme detail of 4.6 and 4 months at that age makes this anecdote really funny.

What are your memories at 3.7?

Blank … totally blank … but there is a little flashing light in the memory section at age 4.15 (±.05) it was Xmas 1958 … Billa, came to visit us. Us = mainly my parents and my mean elder brothers and myself ... Billa was a secretary type person working in the company for which my father was selling steel. All I remember was that Billa turned up. I think she had only recently obtained her driver licence and acquired a Renault Dauphine. But some of these details are really patchy. No clue what the colour of the car was or Billa's perfume. All I remember it was the 3rd or 4th advent and the typical prexmas aroma was wafting through the apartment. On the coffee table was the dish with a sort of advent wreath, make of pine twigs and small pine cones, surrounded by 4 candles. To really make the smell authentically xmassy we would always burn a few pine needles. But when Billa entered the corridor all I could smell was Billa. I rushed to find out who the proud owner of this cloud of seductive smell was. I discovered Billa. She had the silhouette of an Italian film star. As soon as she spotted me, she lifted me up and pressed me against a very well populated balcony. At the time I had no notion of cup sizes but Billa's was probably just a healthy C. Presentation: 10/10. I didn't know Billa, but it was love at first touch. She carried me to the lounge room where the adults had coffee. Billa had set me down. Then something tremendous happened. I am sure this wouldn't happen nowadays. Billa asked my parents to permission to take me for a cuddle to my parents' bed room. I did not object. I was lying on her bosom and inhaling here aroma. After a few minutes we returned to the coffee table.
More coffee for the adults and more xmas cookies for all. I guess that I asked Billa for another cuddle session. She didn't offer any resistance and took me once again to my parents' bedroom. I was just settling into my comfort zone with my head on her breasts, when suddenly my fucking brothers emerged from underneath the bed and ended my first erotic experience abruptly. Billa must have felt ashamed. I felt angry.

This was the same bed under which I tried to become a good Christian about 7 month later.

@PontifexMarximus This is very entertaining.

My life has taken these turns: Catholic > Atheist > Spiritual > Semi-Buddhist > Agnostic, leaning Atheist.

At the times I turned to spirituality and Buddhism, they helped me. I had a need for help (such as going through a divorce). When that need was fulfilled, I no longer found value in these avenues and moved on. The more time passes, the more and more I lean toward Atheism.

Pontificus Maximus. That's funny.

I've tried to be religious several times. Each time was terrible in its own way. I'm comfy where I am now.I call it reality.

I consider myself a hindu vedantist now. It let me escape all the hate and mistrust I had of religions as an atheist. it's also secular.
