Regarding the source. The purpose of CAPE and similar organizations is laid out in this article-

[au.org]

That article is mainly about DeVos and church schools. CAPE has been around since 1971. Similar in what ways?

@WilliamFleming The article is about the shared agenda of DeVos and the CAPE private education lobby group to funnel public monies to church schools.

I was helping explain why the CAPE link read like an advertisement or press release for an industry product. It should have been a response to another comment in the thread.

While I was working on my second college degree, I tutored from Algebra to Calculus with many different students, both college and high school, and observed part of what money, that it can cause some to be in small classes, does to others. Yet, I would also like to know where one that I tutored is today as I still see her smiling while sharing the advancement of Algebra with her.

2

I would attribute that to socioeconomic status... of course rich kids with access to tutors, technology and other educational assets/resources that money can pay for as well as having food in their bellies to be able to concentrate and not having to work one or more jobs to support themselves/their families, will do better than those that have all those added struggles to contend with as students.

I taught many years at a private school where my kids went on scholarship- even before I was hired. I have also read much in teaching and about the many forms thereof. Pretty simply, kids who go to schools with small classrooms do better - even in public schools. So, class size is most important.

As far as rich people doing better - they do. They have lots of advantages others don't. Even top notch students who come from poorer homes do not rise as far, on average, as just average rich students.

Bear in mind that private schools can and do cherrypick their applicants, while public schools take in everyone, including those with special needs, behavioral problems, and language and cultural difficulties. And yet private schools by and large perform only marginally better than our public school system (by as little as a 1% margin in one survey a while ago).

3

Of course they do. They have more money and resources so children get help and attention.

According to posts I see on social media there must not be many private schoolers posting.

Isn't it amazing what a shit load of money will do.

That appears to be an advertisement not an article.

Makes sense considering the site belongs to a right-wing lobby group whose purpose it is to get spineless politicians to funnel public moneies to private, particularly religious, schools. Their "research" is tailor made for Betsy Devos types.
