Antifa (pronounced 'Anti fa' not 'anteefa'😉 has been the name of anti fasist organisations in EU since the 1920s. They believe in direct action when faced with the jack booted thugs of the nazi party and Italian facists. They respond to facism and racism where they find it. Their call for direct action often means members meet violence head on, but they never instigate it. I know antifa here in UK have often gone in to marches ready for a fight but it never starts from them. Their message is clear, to oppose racism whereever they see it. As a young woman I was a member of the ANL and knew many members of Antifa (I still do), I am apalled that they are being considered a terrorist organisation. I do not recognise this in anyone I know. I did not join as even as a 15 year old, I understood the potential risk to my future career being involved in direct action could have. I have tried to be an advocate for peace and justice my entire life. Someone has to stand up to these facists.

I agree with you about them but I do not understand why their faces are covered. Thanks for correcting the word usage as many people are wrong about that. Right now the Fascists I'm aware of in America are Trump and his Swamp.

I answered below re the face covering

Another thing to consider is that the "anti-fascists" have large numbers of police provacateurs in their ranks. As do the "fascists". The whole thing degenerates into street theater, choreographed and directed by the police.In the US, this is known as the "Hoover Plan", named after the one-time ReichFuhrer of the FBI, who believed that the best way to prevent a strong Third Party from challenging the two dominant Partys, was to keep the Left and the Right feuding with one another.

The reason they attack wannabe fascists who have no power, is because they are too gutless to attack the fascists already in power. How does tossing a waste basket through a Starbucks window hurt a Donald Trump? In a few hours, the glass is swept up, and Starbucks (and the Donald Trumps) are still in business.

All that is required for evil to prosper is that good men stand by and do nothing - (or something like that as I forget the actual quote)

2

Nobody with a modicum of intelligence believes them to be a terrorist group. Only the alt right. I am ignorant of their acts outside of this country so cannot really speak to that.

Antifa is trying to fight violence with more violence. What would happen if the fascists held a rally in the park looking for a fight and no one else went? (Crickets). Now that would send a message.

The best way to fight violence is with laws and law enforcement (sworn officers - not another mob).

@OwlInASack Absolutely agree with you.

The Republican / Conservative snowflakes just want to deflect from the attention brought upon white nationalism and white supremacy. They want to engage in their typical worn exhausted trope, "Same to you, but more of it."

In Charlottesville, Antifa came armed with clubs. It was the white supremicists who came armed with guns. Yes they did, they were amply visible on the news coverage.

I find it difficult that anybody in the US would find fault in an organization opposed to fascism. That is, unless they themselves are fascist.
