Anyone who is just realizing the ideas that are being talked about in this video is SUPER late. It's 2019, the minimum baseline should be much more versed in religion, theism, religion and politics, etc. .

I also wanna add that this video poorly depicts people who are philosophically nontheistic. The arguments are much more nuanced and profound than just having an episode of mentall illness and shouting memes while struggling with the simple function of sitting properly.

Also, I think the inclusion of the line "fuck God" kind of forces more theistic people to tune the scene out. The show in general isn't that good at depicting intelligent people who struggle with mental illness.

This is interesting. I wish I knew who wrote this. It starts with the person questing god and then goes to ALL religion and how it controls. Then the character again questions why a god would allow this and changes again to proffer an imaginary friend. This seems to represent an undecided "atheist" that while giving many good points is not sure himself. While this may be the case for many. I have not met one atheist that knowledges god in any sense. It seems to be more of a perception of what an theist perception of what an atheist believed perception is,rather than a clear statement of a position. Note how depressed and in how much anxiety he appears to be in.

Could not believers who see this not imagine that "ALL" atheist are hopeless nihilist that are tore up with internal cognitive dissidence? HIS distortion of reality seems to be some vast conspiracy coming from religion as opposed to simply accept that such opportunities to control are simply a bi-product of religion and our human nature.

One must also consider who the intended audience is. In this case it appears to be of American origin. If that is the case and that is the intended audience then demographically Americans are about at least 70% Christian by any account. So if we get down to brass tacks this is intended to make atheist look like crazy conspiracy theorist, while easily casting them in the box of radicals to be summarily dismissed.

So no I do not think this clip is a good thing.

Like I said below, "The problem with saying "Fuck God" is that it signifies an acceptance of the God concept." Believers always assume that atheists are angry at God, and in response, atheists must constantly repeat that they cannot be angry at nothing.

I wouldn't say that atheists have cognitive dissonance; the atheist view is not in conflict with the world they see. Indeed, what sort of God would be content with billions of people believing in a miscellany of goofy myths? That is part of the cognitive dissonance believers face. Atheists may well be frustrated with the stupidity and gullability of believers, but this does not represent a logical conundrum, but does have a variety of good explanations within psychology and psychobiology.

@racocn8 I very much agree, it is interesting how such cognative dissonance is projected onto the supposed atheist, by those who do not understand.

Couldn't have said it better myself .... #ilovethisshow

In my opinion, religion is an escape from reality.

Exactly. So well defined by Marx in his intro to ‘Critique of Hegel's Philosophy of Right’, the ‘opium of the people’ text

I was introduced to Mr Robot by a FB friend from Pakistan.

Everyone "enjoys" a unique view of what "is." That is why agreeing on a shared view continues to elude us.

The problem with saying "Fuck God" is that it signifies an acceptance of the God concept. Better to say "Fuck religion" or "Fuck believers".

Sadly, we have been reduced to "bumperstickerism"; the need to compress truth to a minimal number of syllables.

Saying "Fuck anything" is essentially an ad hominem, and your unlikely to convey truth by shouting, much less cursing.

It really comes down to preventing people from being brainwashed in the first place, and the passive process of mere public education isn't adequate.

It is the qualification as valid the very concept in which we are attempting to refute. It is a bit fustrating to see.

Countless wars? All religions? That’s very much an exaggeration, and the whole clip seems to be about religion as a conspiracy theory. “They” are out to exert control over us? Could it be that religion is a deeply embedded aspect of human nature or that religious practice might also be a path to freedom in some cases? If a religion does seem controlling are we not perfectly free to turn away?

I suggest thinking deeply about whether there is truth here before keying this information into your subconscious mind.

If something is controling, then by definition one is not perfectly free to turn away. I do agree that it is a bit over the top and misguided.

Nice one William!

@OldMetalHead so who did the editing and which parts?

The bible isn’t one book it’s a collection of writings. The only problem I have with the bible is that the writings have been conflated to make a whole which it is not.

It’s like attempting to make a systematic theology out of the collected stories of the Brothers Grimm: Possible but lots of metaphysical hoops to jump through to make it coherent.

That's such a great quote from that show, which in my opinion is underrated.

I second that opinion

Eliot was so clear minded for someone so mentally ill.

If only trump and the Obstructionist republicans were not insane!

Clear minded would be a Greenland too far!

LOL!!!
