"There are three important patterns of twentieth-century secularization :
First, secularization has been most evident amongst Christians and Jews; the bulk of the world’s atheists have emerged from those traditions.
Second, in racial terms secularization is overwhelmingly white; the decline of faith has been concentrated very largely in the predominantly white nations, and amongst the white people of mixed-race communities.
Third, secularization has traditionally been seen as gendered, led in both Christian and Jewish traditions by men
who ‘backslide’ from faith and practice, whilst their womenfolk sustain higher levels of churchgoing and
domestic religious tradition"
(From: Oxford Handbook of Atheism)
Good stuff: too bad public secularism, although one of humanities great achievements, is so deeply under attack by all the historically stupid tenets and tribal behaviors.
The result:::: White men bad. No matter how correct and truly progressive we are, and have been.
Yes : i concur and this has been my experience; might
note also the "tail wags the dog " phenomena, which causes
untold damage to moderate forces. In other words the more
extreme voices attempt to silence or remove any info
or facts that do not further the "group IDEAL".
Has the author really examined trends in Asia? If so, I would like to know exactly what he found.
Yup. Cough China cough.
Whilst our womenfolk maintain their religion I hope that helps keep them within bounds.
Interesting view. White Christian men losing their religion.
White Christian men always take the view that the world revolves around them and they are at the forefront of everything.
