Churchy Chicken: Why the Religious Right Won’t Stop Talking About Chick-fil-A There are 2 parts to this posting; the first part deals with the church part and the 2nd with the chicken part. Instead of killing perhaps saving 2 birds with one post. Chic-fil-A is in both parts.

The people behind them must be related to Hobby Lobby.

I’m only interested in the chicken part.

I don't think they'd be so enamored of Chick-fil-A (or KFC), if they saw how the chickens were raised and slaughtered!

Unfortunately, most people simply don't want to know. One sad fact is that kids these days all think their food comes from the grocery store. Tell them some facts about meat and they will get very upset and disbelieve you. My late partner, an elementary school teacher did this often and the result was always the same.

I think businesses such as Shit-Fil-A (I say that, because I hate fast food) are there to fund right-wing political initiatives.

They do seem to migrate to right wing causes don't they? Sad....

I'm a vegetarian and eat no meat. I do eat eggs which I buy from a local farmer that does not abuse his chickens or kill them. My health has improved ten fold, I've lost 27 lbs and am feeling better now at 65 than when I was in my 30's. I know it's not for everyone. However, if humans would stop eating so much meat we could put the screws to these monsters who abuse their employees.

I am the same (we got our eggs from a neighbor) but now eggs are a no no. If more people understood what goes into meat they might stop. The UCSUS gave a pretty ugly description.

Like you I also feel a lot younger (though my thing is not losing weight but gaining). I guess we are the same age. lol

@Gwendolyn2018 That is fantastic! You have done so much good for your health and future. I wish more people would understand that we don't actually need to eat meat to be healthy. I also know it is an individuals choice what they eat. We all find our path to health in our own way. Losing 100 lbs is so amazing! So happy for your continued good health!!!

@Gwendolyn2018, @JackPedigo When I started on my journey, I gave up meats one at a time, beef, then chicken, then fish. There is so much sodium and water added to chicken especially, making it very unhealthy. If one could buy their chicken from a small farmer who doesn't feed them just to fatten them up but to make sure they are healthy animals we would be much healthier ourselves. Beef is so full of antibiotics and stress hormones from the horrible way they are butchered that it is one of the least healthy things people eat. Fish is full of mercury and chemicals. Our FDA is failing us and making us sicker.

@Redheadedgammy You took the same road as myself. It was a slow progression from red meat to poultry and then vegetarian (we did not go the cold tofurky route). After my 2nd partner and I split I met another who was very active in "EarthSave". [earthsave.org] I learned another side of the issue and have never looked back.

@Gwendolyn2018 How do you feel about all the new meat substitution products as Beyond Meat or Impossible Foods? [impossiblefoods.com]

BTW I just heard there is new information on: [imdb.com]

I never go to that accursed place or other so-called religiously-inspired businesses.

I agree, and Hobby Lobby is another business I refuse to patronize.

@SiouxcitySue I used to frequent antique shows often, and whenever I spotted a fake "antique", I'd say loud enough for others to hear, "Aint I seen that in Hobby Lobby?".

While I know most boycotts don't amount to much of anything, I have personally boycotted Chick-Fil-A for decades.
I generally boycott any corporation run by religious people and used to advance any religious/hate-filled/discriminatory agenda.

Same goes for Hobby Lobby.

I don't care if people think my not patronizing some business is "silly".
At least my conscience is clear, and I haven't helped them with their agenda.

I have done the same thing for years and years. Why spend my limited amount of money in places that promote hatred and embrace religious bullshit? Thanks for doing your part, every little bit helps.

I have always refused to patronize or support any business or organization with an us vs them mentality.
