I have seen a lot of negative and disgusting posts and comments concerning this young woman. Social media has killed intellectual curiosity. So much easier to remain insulated in a cocoon of ignorance. Amazing how threatening she is - I personally love her.

Interesting how Thunberg doesn't know what she's talking about and must be being used as a pawn but Shamima Begum (who joined Islamic State at the age of 15) supposedly knew exactly what she doing and wasn't brainwashed.

I expect that once the deniers start to shut up, they will turn to the "alternative" science can save us guys - like filling up the atmosphere with a substance to block sunlight. That has been suggested and just recently by one of the billionaires who could afford to try it. Problem is unexpected consequences, like a little ice age.
The Earth is being raped and has been raped and the only way to save her is through hard choices, not some last minute machinations or a deux aux machina ending.

Definitely the ones who are choosing to be deliberately dismissive of her, and
the issue.
I am really okay with the level of "disrespect" with which she addressed the
"adults" in the room, yesterday. None of them are deserving of any respect at all.

I think, at some point, we all get manipulated by someone or thing, mostly companies with something to sell. We must look at the message and it is dire. Too bad some people can't handle that. I think it might be good that it's on this site as now we get to see they really exist in all their nuttiness.
@JackPedigo I don’t think she is being manipulated...I was using sarcasm...but yes the massage is dire, and today I watched the Greenland Glacier melting away into the sea on the news earlier!
@Marionville I got that but still believe it's too easy to be manipulated by others and we have to be on constant guard. The new David Attenborough series "Our Planet" shows a lot of beautiful things but every episode also shows what is happening to the planet.
Of course she isnt . I saw someone on agnostic posted that... he has a penchant for creating silly arguments. She is self directed and outraged. What a culture that educates and inspires their young with science and empowers them to speak out.

However, that guy seems to take it to a whole other level.
There are at least two climate change deniers who post on here regularly. To me they are no different from anti vaxxers and flat earthers but I some times wonder what motivates them. Are they just attention seeking ?
