No, but I used to be an Apostolic Pentecostal Christian and we said it a lot, but I have heard other Christians say it as well.

The comment is not in reference into spirituality, this is something Christians says, when asks about problems that we are facing today. At least this has been my experience.

When people say that as a response, they are essentially saying that whatever the topic of discussion is, it does not pertain to them because they live in a spiritual realm with their god, but their body lives in a physical earthly realm with the rest of us. Also, some people say it as like the world is going to Hell anyway so what your talking about doesn’t matter. Well, at least that has been my experience, and that is what I have gotten out of it.

Haha yes that is me in the picture, and you are right these are nasty times, but I did not mean it in a nasty way. Seeing as how you are older, your probably used to that word being a derogatory word for people of color (n***a), but I was not using it in that way. I use the term loosely. It has many different meaning, and young people today(typically ones of color) use it as slang for foolish.

No it is not a huge difference. Thinking and talking about is the mindset that I am talking about. If she punched, Law and Order would take care of it. I did not need to comment.

Thinking about punching somebody, thinking about raping somebody, thinking about hurting somebody are as bad as doing it. We don't tell kids... it is ok to think and imagine punching somebody but don't do it. Do we?

I knew this. That is why I said the sense of right and wrong is different for different people.

This is true, and I don’t punch them in the face, even though that statement rattles my brain and makes me want to, but the issue that I have with the statement is that I am finding people are using it almost as an excuse. I was once an apostolic Pentecostal Christian, so I get it when you say you live in a spiritual realm, but when your saying it in response, us having a conversation about child hunger, and climate change, I have a problem with that. I get your Christian and you believe that the hard times that we are facing now are “the beginning of the Apocalypse”, but that does not mean we can just sit back and watch things happen that we can change. So I need them to come from their spiritual realm, and help make this earth a better place for all of us!

We have different beliefs but that does not mean we have to argue. Is anyone imposing his or her beliefs on you? Why do you want them to come out of their spiritual realm? Maybe it works for them. They are entitled to make decisions about how they want to lead their lives. Is anybody asking you to not believe in what you are believing in? Please know no one has to believe as you want him or her to. Climate change is controversial and you are entitled to only your opinion, not to theirs.

We can let people believe what they want and we can believe in what we want. No two people will agree on even most.

@St-Sinner People impose their beliefs on me all the time! Saying what they believe is right and how I need to follow Christ. Laying hands on me a praying for me when I don’t want them too. Oh yea all to often. No, people don’t have to argue, but a lot of the time they do because they believe they are right, and if they didn’t believe they were right they wouldn’t have that particular belief. If living in your spiritual realm works for you it’s fine with me, and some may think climate change is controversial, but the fact is that it is happening, and regardless of our belief system we can do something about it. So you can live in a spiritual realm if you want to, but the fact remains that we ALL live on earth. But my hope is that we all can together to make change; in or out of their “spiritual realm”. And even though two people don’t agree most, you can still agree to disagree, but find some common ground.

This is how I see this:

1. Life is too short for confrontations. It is too important not to focus on many other beautiful aspects of life instead
2. I move away from fanatics. I have no time to change them. I know who I am and where I want to go. Arguing with them is an impediment to my journey. But I will learn any good I can from all people and interactions
3. I am not a social reformer and do not want to spend my time in changing others. Who I should be ... is everyone's individual decision. I will focus my energy and time on the child I have brought in this life so that I can teach her well and launch successfully in life

If your outlook serves you well, you can apply it to life.

@St-Sinner ohferpetessake, thinking and doing are Not the same. Your mind just puts up thoughts 24/7, you can dismiss the thoughts, act on them, or not. Example: See a sexy gal swinging down the street, the cave-man inside wants to leap. But you, like all decent men, get an immediate grip upon yourself's inner urges. There is a Huge difference! And in fact verbalizing a desire, such as "punching" somebody, usually serves to diffuse that urge.
