Just went to see Ad Astra with Brad Pitt. Reminiscent of 2001 A Space Odyssey. The space science was well fo3ne and compelling.

But the premise was disappointing. Too much God and the message that we are the only creation made by God in the whole Universe.

I would hope that as we reach out into space in greater numbers that we as a species can let go of this myth of a God(s). That as we see the vastness and greater potential in space that this concept becomes a thing of the past.

I have not seen it, but was seeing a lot of shitty previews for it on Facebook and mocking them . . . . one of my comments was to the effect of "This is one of those movies where they spend a fortune on advertising it, and if you go to see it you will discover they needed the advertisement because the movie is shit."
.
I watch mostly foreign film, the US movies are smothered in shit for the most part.

I saw it too. I was a little irritated by the god stuff at first, but then I thought maybe they were pointing out the absurdity of praying to a god who has never made its presence known or aided us in any way, set against a backdrop of extraordinary human achievement. Maybe that's just what I wanted to see...

Thanks for the review! I had planned on seeing it but...not NOW!

Thanks for the heads up. Now I do not have to see this movie because if I spent money for a film with that message I would be pissed at myself.
