I just blocked two people which is a rarity for me. One moron talking about the 'queers' and how he keeps his sexuality at home and does not announce it to the world. The other talking about how he hates God and how is it that a lesbian can find a wife and he can not. Very disturbing and I am making an effort to not have that shit pop up when I am on here. Not what we need in this already crazy world.

I LOVE beautiful lesbians!
Give me a break.

I saw that one post, he wasn't quite right in the head.

I block all the time if someone tries to spread lies, misinformation or just plain rude, thoughtless and hurtful images.

Gay people announce to the world that they're gay? Or do they just go about their day and their natural persona can just be interpreted as them being gay? I don't see gay people walking down the street saying stuff like, "I'm gay!!!" or "I suck d^ck!!!" or "I eat p^ssy!!!". THAT would be announcing that they're gay, or at least bi.

Straight people can be interpreted as announcing it to the world that they're straight then too, no? Hey, that guy walking down the street has the nerve to announce that he's straight by acting manly!!!

These are of course false analysis anyway.

"Straight looking" people can be gay and "gay looking" people can be straight. I have seen guys that are somewhat flamboyant and seem gay, but then they have a wife and have never been with a guy or have sex with plenty of women and only women. I mean we can go into a whole other conversation if they are lying or not or if there is some truth to flamboyance being a descriptor of being gay, but it's still not universal.

As for why he can't find a wife? It could be a hundred different things. His personality including how he talks about gay people, his looks, his financial situation, his friends, his family, his voice, etc etc etc.

A lot of different factors could have been involved in the fellow's lack of romantic success, but I suspect the main on--his anger toward women was showing

Gay people announcing to the world they’re gay was how San Francisco gays in the 1980s made Reagan and the federal government deal with the “gay disease”. Some of them paraded, shouting “We’re here. We’re queer. Get used to it!”

@yvilletom Right, that was a movement. All individual gay people don't walk around the street sashaying lol

Many homophobes are closet homosexuals. If the guy is so conflicted about his sexuality, better to not have him in your space.

I felt concerned for the fellow who hated god & resented lesbians. I think he needs therapy

Either that or he was drunk.

LOL Hates something that doesn't exist, or does his hatred say the he believes god exists? So confused.

@ChurchLess That fellow seemed very confused. Apparently he hated something he claimed didn't exist. I think he really hated himself.

There was a movie a few years ago, "CAROL", where an eligible young man wanted to marry a young woman who was in a committed lesbian relationship. That would have been a tragedy for both of them.

Your exactly right on that note . I agree with you

So what if the man is jealous of lesbians? He displayed courage and honesty in expressing his feelings and was met with a barrage of demonizing and racist responses.

I’d think that someone with truly liberal characteristics would have engaged in conversation. Nothing but paper liberals around this joint apparently.

Tolerance of bigotry is complicity and not a virtue.

@JimG @NoPlanetB He didn’t say that he hates lesbians, just that he’s jealous of them. It didn’t seem offensive to me. You can’t fix jealousy by spreading your own brand of hatred. And what about the racist responses? Is that ok?

The guy feels pain and was open to discussion. He’s just a human like all of us. No worse.

@WilliamFleming I never saw anything racist. But I might have missed it.

@NHjulie There were a couple of responses that referred to his race. Somebody wrote that what what goes in the ‘hood won’t cut it here or something like that. Very offensive. I think he’s just a forthright young Black guy from a small town in Texas. He might not know anything about ‘hoods.

Do you remember his tag?

@WilliamFleming I don't . Just remember checking his profile and he referred to dating women as getting tail and responded that that might be where he should start as far as understanding why he was having a problem.

@WilliamFleming
He was Caucasian

@darthfaja The guy who was jealous of lesbians was a young Black man from Texas. I looked.

@WilliamFleming
Not how I remember him
But ok 😊

@WilliamFleming

The OP here has every right to ban or not ban as she sees fit. I should have made my argument based on the fact that her actions are her own decision and not subject to judgmental, self-appointed gatekeepers of the "liberal community." Unless, the OP requested your approval to identify as a liberal, you shouldn't assume she really cares whether or not you give it.

Further your disingenuous and probably intentional misinterpretation of what @NoPlanetB and I posted really demonstrated your integrity.

@JimG of course the OP has such a right. I haven’t said one thing about the OP. You are trying to divert the issue.

And besides that you totally misunderstand what I wrote. I do not identify as a liberal. There are a huge number of people on this forum who champion liberalism but when it comes to action all they know how to do is demonize, stereotype and attempt to shut down anyone with whom they disagree.

If a guy says he is lonely, unhappy, and jealous of lesbians, rather than offering support and counsel they rush in with fangs bared, making hypercritical and racist personal attacks. These “liberals” fancy themselves the great protectors of victims and banishers of the evil suppressors. It is 100% ego and has nothing to do with true liberalism.

@WilliamFleming The problem with that is you seem to be deciding how a liberal should act. For what it's worth, I don't consider myself a liberal either, but most conservatives might. Anyway, liberals are a pretty diverse lot. You won't find the hive mind that seems to exist with other political ideologies. I know liberals who are strongly pro-life, pro-second amendment, or who lean towards capitalism.

Liberals and those with liberal leanings tend to be independent thinkers. If I misunderstood you it's because of this sentence in your reply to the OP: "I’d think that someone with truly liberal characteristics would have engaged in conversation.l" I don't know why a liberal would feel obligated to engage in conversation with just some random guy on the internet. I don't think her choice to ban anyone makes her any less liberal.

@JimG You are probably right and I wash my hands of the whole affair.

How is it that a lesbian can find a wife? IDK because I've never worried about such things personally. I suppose maybe the same way that anyone could find a wife. Right now I wouldn't mind a good partner to share ideas and convo with but I'm not sure of the wife route again. BTW, I am lesbian. 🙂

I saw both of them...one I left a response too..it was just too ridiculous to pass without a rebuttal! The other I wouldn’t dignify with a response. I could be following suit by blocking them too.

1

Report it. Sounds like deliberate trolling.

I did. I rarely report or block but sometimes...

@GreatNani When it happens on a Sunday Morning I suspect a tiny little church of letting out and saying "Go find some atheist organization to harass - make them look bad!".

Lol! Sum crazy shit out there! 🤣

0

Yup. Seems there's nothing to discourage people from posting bigoted statements on here. There's also our resident MRA troll who posts rare apoligist garbage and anti feminist misinformation

I must not see that. I suppose everyone is entitled to their opinion. Sigh...

@GreatNani I believe his last post was about the confederate flag and how the people who fought for it were never apologized to.... 😕

@PolyComrade well now that's just bizarre! So glad I missed that one.

I don't like to block people with whom I disagree, even if I think they are offensive. I don't think I am going to change anyone's mind, but seeing a bunch of rebuttals from those of us who disagree might get them to start thinking. I also think that people who hold such opinions are a part of our world and if I block them I create a bubble for myself of like minded people and forget how racism/sexism and other intolerance is out there. If we remain aware of the problem we are more likely to keep picking away at the solution.

Understandable. I just don't want it invading my space here. I have enough of that on Facebook. And they were both offensive, not at all interested in having a rational discussion.

@GreatNani I saw the one from the guy who was worried about the lesbians taking all his girlfriends and agree it was offensive. I don't blame you for blocking him. Maybe the lesbians would be less of a threat if he upped his game a bit!😁 I'm relatively new to this site and haven't yet seen enough offensive comments to inspire me to block anyone but maybe someone is up for the challenge!😱

@Mostly_Harmless it rarely happens. I usually just ignore it. Welcome!

I'd rather they be the ones who have to block me. I have to hold my tongue, all day, every day. Surrounded by some of the country's most conservative people making stupid statements and spewing hate speech in the name of 'love'/'god'. This is one of the few places I can find a halfway decent conversation where I don't feel like hitting people. If someone here introduces a new idea or point of view, I'm much more likely to actually research it. So if someone comes on here with clear hatred ridiculousness, I will burn that shit down. May not always make me popular, but if people are clearly in the wrong and it is causing them to spew hatred, they should be told so. At least then they're aware that it will not be tolerated, perhaps they should rethink it. In real life I only burn it down when it is so painful it is worth potentially blowing up my life. Blatant racism, blatant homophobia etc

I've often wondered why some people go on about the, what I would consider strangest things that have no relevance to anyone but themselves. And I hope you've been making time for yourself.

I have thank you!
