Sorry, but I am glad. I saw her as having a one track mind and seldom questioning her activities. Very often when one tries to help a situation but give it little forethought it actually makes things worse.

I wouldn’t assume she hasn’t put considerable thought into this. I’ve listened to a couple of her talks on other subjects and found her to be quite insightful.

@jerry99 Sorry, I have been hearing about her for years and I always see emotions over reason as her motto. I was on the board of ZPG (chapter) for years. In 2000 a new director felt we needed money to get our message out. He courted people with money and one was Ted Turner. Turner gave $1 million. However Turner was married to Fonda at the time and our message changed and it eliminated the immigration portion of US population gain. I/we strongly suspected this was a quid pro quo deal and Fonda was the voice behind it. This is the kind of stuff I saw her doing. It was always about populism.

Gotta love her....she’s been getting arrested for following her causes for over 50 years! At one time she was one of the most hated women in America, for her telling the uncomfortable truths of the Vietnam war. Her critics tried banning her movies and a Democrat politician from Maryland, William Burkhead, said in 1973 “I wouldn’t want to kill her, but I wouldn’t mind if you cut her tongue off “!

I'm confused. Is it a crisis that Jane Fonda got arrested?

It's a message -- an extremely visible, long-time celebrity is using her fame to remind people that climate change is a real problem worth putting yourself out of your comfort zone to try to get things changed. If an 81-year-old woman is willing to get arrested to make the point, then why aren't the rest of us taking some action?

@jerry99 I am very curious what she has determined as 'comfort zone'.

@JackPedigo Those are my words. I imagine that as a successful star of a tv series, she has a pretty comfortable life in California.

@jerry99 And like so many others of fame and fortune she appeals to her base. Never, ever rock the boat.

Good for you, Jane!

Lawyers have an enormous carbon footprint. I prefer to take action that doesn't lead to lawyers.

Not getting arrested.
