Hi fellow atheists, sceptics, and agnostics!!! What is the best secular meet up group? I'm in the Bible belt and could use a break from bull shot from time to time! Much love!

I wondered the same thing... I live in northwest Alabama.

Ouch, deep south!

What part of the Bible Belt are you in? The Satanic Temple has chapters in lots of red states.

How about a Freethinkers Group? I joined one through Meetup.com and love it!

Ok, I'll check it out

American Humanist Association - Find a Local Chapter: [americanhumanist.org]

Ok, thanks

Meetup.com groups are pretty localized. You can search their site to find some local groups in our area.

OK!

if you can't find one, start one! you can post an event here. there used to be an event page, but i don't see it any longer. maybe you can just organize a get together in a coffee house, library, bowling alley, bar .... whatever you enjoy? there must be some other AG users in your area.

You are right!

My city has an atheist group that I enjoy meeting with. There is a humanist group too, but I don't enjoy it as much. There is a lot of cross over of people who go to both. I hope that you find one or more.

Being a fellow inhabitant of the Bible Belt, I know how hard it is. You may want to check out the Bible Belt Survivors group on this forum. 🙂

Ok, I'll look into it

I recommend Meetup.com. They usually have several groups listed. If not, start your own!

Also did you know "bull shot" is also a term in video game culture for "bull sh!t screen shot" when game developers provide beautifully enhanced images or video of game play that looks amazing but will be only a small part of the actual game or just not in it at all.

Damn auto correct! It was meant to say sh¡t

What part of the Bible Belt? Do some digging online and see if there’s a chapter of The Satanic Temple near you. Usually a FB group and/or discord server for one maybe. Don’t worry, it’s politically active atheism with some adversarial symbolism but they don’t believe in or worship Satan. And they don’t eat babies any more often than the rest of us atheists do. So like twice a month, tops.

@Wurlitzer We have some Satanic Temple people in our area too. They are fun. It's amazing when you are with "normal" people and a tatted costumed Satantic Temple friend comes up and gives you a hug.
