If you have spent any time on a dating site, then you wouldn't ask that question lol.

Now, I kinda miss all those girls my best friend's fiancé was trying to set me up with. Well, not all of them. But, I was getting some attention back in the day. And now all I get is crickets chirping, ha ha.

They discovered mathematics?

I had a reason for the post but couldn't find the way to elaborate under the question. Your answer isn't helpful

@Allikat Sorry if my response was a bit snarky. My point was that men ask their coupled friends for date intros as the return on the investment (just asking) is high as the chance of a successful outcome is higher than other sources.

It's a classic way to be set up.

The "Double date". You've probably heard of it right? 😉

(Also friends tend to have some similarities so there's that as well).

This man is fesh out of jail and not a friend to either of us. My boyfriend mixes car paint and made paint for him. Double dates don't work very well in my experiences ?

@Allikat I think most of presumed the two males were friends.

If they simply know each other through a work connection - that is a trifle odd.

Because it's really hard to meet women, especially if you're sick of online dating (as I am). All of my friends are married so this doesn't really apply to me but if I had a friend with a great girlfriend, I would definitely at least ask if she had an available friend that maybe we could do a double date with. Quality people tend to stick together and maybe we'd hit it off.

I think there is a higher perceived probability that a friend won't hook you up with a schmuck. There is more trust there. Maybe guys think it's easier to get laid like that too lol

2

And what do you think girls ask their girlfriends? The same.

2

Nothing succeeds better than a good reference. However, if you are a dweeb no good reference can save you.

2

They are hoping the friend will have similar traits. it is a compliment

A setup may feel safer than risking rejection on the open market. And presumably friends know you well and will try to match you with your "type" or a good fit. I don't see anything wrong in it. I had an acquaintance, though, whom I hadn't seen since high school 15 years or so earlier, who asked me whether there were any single women where I work. I told him I didn't know, which is mostly true because I don't discuss personal lives with coworkers as a general rule, and then he asked me if I could ask around for him. Oy! I don't know what he thought I was going to do — approach every woman who works there and say, "I have this casual acquaintance from riding the bus in high school, and he asked me to find out whether there are any single women working here. So, whaddya say? Do you feel like getting hacked to bits and being stored in his freezer? I think he's free this weekend"?

maybe they think the guy's girlfriend is the 'ugly friend' of that good looking chic.

Because they are horny

Also thought i had deleted this question and it's still up for all these answers. Not interested in smartass comments.....

@sarahjustme Some similar happened with one of my threads. I posted on a Monday and few days later it showed up as "authored by another female member". I felt honored that somebody did so. LOL 🙂

My boyfriend mixes paint and a this guy just got out of jail. (Is mixing car paint for dude)We don't know him and have never hung out. He asked my boyfriend last night if I had any single friends. I am going to sound shallow but the guys head and neck are covered in tattoos. Just not the type of guy we are looking to spend time with ..... We don't even know him

Disaster written all over it. Never would l do that.

1

Is that how it's done? 😀

Lol I guess so

@Allikat I’ve always refused to do anything I consider creepy or smarmy relationship wise … and look where it’s got me ..alone 🙂

Same reason as we join internet dating sites, another potential way to meet women.

Are you talking sex hookup or fixing their friend up? I have fixed up friends over the years. My sister married a musician friend of mine-he left her after 5 years but they had nothing in common. On the other hand, in my twenties fixed my girlfriend up with my brother-in-law who didn't like me much and they have 3 grown children 40 years later. Never fix a good friend up with someone who thinks you're too much a freethinker and and free spirit.

So I am 25. My boyfriend mixes paint and a this guy just got out of jail. We don't know him and have never hung out. He asked my boyfriend last night if I had any single friends. I am going to sound shallow but the guys head and neck are covered in tattoos. Just not the type of guy we are looking to spend time..... We don't even know him

My ex knew guys just like that being a drywaller. Totally get where you are coming from.

What do you do when you don't have a chance? Is it illegal to ask?

0

Never tried it. I think it it is a long shot at best, and is a weak attempt for a date.

0

Why would they not?

0

Because they haven't got the balls to ask themselves.

0

To get laid.

0

Take it as a compliment if anyone asks you to hook them up with your girlfriends friends. If they think your girlfriend is a quality person they think perhaps her friends are also quality.

The attention of women for most men is highly valued.

I have set up a few of my gal friends with guy friends....very few. Although I want to help, I see that there are several differences that dosn't mesh. If a friend asked me to help, I would do what I can to help. It's so not easy to find the one looking for us.

I've not had any guy friends help, but I have had a few gal friends fix me up. Although it hasn't worked so far (usually because of beliefs), I know there is someone looking fo me.
