The difference racist comments between Canada and US. Don Cherry a hockey Icon got fired on Remembrance Day. His comment was...

Downtown Toronto, forget it . . . Nobody wears a poppy.”

Just before playing his taped poppy appeal standing next to his great uncle Sgt. Thomas William Mackenzie’s grave in France, Cherry said: “You people love, that come here, whatever it is, you love our way of life. You love our milk and honey. At least you can pay a couple of bucks for a poppy or something like that. These guys paid for your way life that you enjoy in Canada, these guys paid the biggest price.”

Personally I met Don Cherry a few time in the entertainment business. I don't care for him and along with war since, I threw out of my military toys at 8 years old, I knew war solves nothing.

Social media is calling for Cherry’s head.
A #firedoncherry hashtag had comments like “Please tell CBC that it MUST #FireDonCherry on this very #RemembranceSunday for desecrating the memories of so many with his bigotry & hate. Please help send a strong message that racists and xenophobes have no place on Canada’s national public broadcaster.”

Unlike many Trump's racist comments much stronger, that should have had anybody fired.

One reason why many Canadains are upset because we holds more immigrated than any country in world, per capita. There is 65 million refugees move around every year many from war invaded countries worldwide.

Looks like another Hockey Icon, for hire. Hockey players are our fighting men. I don't mind punching a guy in a game, but just don't want to kill them.

All these thing are to glorify war, just hypocritical.

Back in the 1970s, a bunch of us went to Ottawa one weekend. While in a bar, the locals warned us about the 'Frogs', or French-Canadians. "They'll pick your pockets, and steal your hubcaps!" they said. Later, when we went over to Hull, a French-Canadian working class suburb, the Quebecois warned us about the 'Beefeaters', or English-speaking Canadians"They'll pick your pockets, and steal your hubcaps!" they said. "Hmmm" I thought. This was exposure to a whole new kind of prejudice!

No you are lying... at least have the decency to tell the truth... he literally said:

"YOU PEOPLE love-- that come here, whatever it is-- you love our way of life, you love our milk and honey, at least you can pay a couple bucks for a poppy or something like that. These guys paid for your way of life that you enjoy in Canada"... in regards to immigrants... and his old, rich fat ass never gets out of his car... if he did and actually walked around the streets of toronto he would see lots of people wearing poppies as I did on a daily basis. Why are you lying for him? What do you get for sharing false information?

You can drive around Toronto too. Did it ever occur to you, Don Cherry said this at different places and at different locations. Changed up the lines, yet read very similar to yours and mine, what is the big difference? I cut and pasted these lines from Global National news. Call them indecent!!! Geesh.

I have two rules and I don't break for nobody.
Be honest and Don't harm. I do get my decency for discouraging wars, forgetting regrets, and discourage putting down other races or immigrates.

I worked along with Don Cherry and Trump in the Entertainment bussiness, they are both very nasty to most people. I wouldn't work for them for a million dallors, if they worked for me, I would say : Your 🔥ed.

@Castlepaloma okay then your source was trying to soften the negativity of what he said and hence is a biased bad source. I am saying his experience in Toronto must be very limited if he saw less poppy wearers than I did... though I don't know how many poppy wearers there are near Rogers Center or scotiabank or wherever the heck he films his show(s).

Oh.

I'm surprised that Don Cherry is still around. He was an old guy 30 years ago when I last lived there.

He is the Canadian Keith Richards.

According to the United Nations, the United States has the highest number of immigrants (foreign-born individuals), with 48 million in 2015, five times more than in Saudi Arabia (11 million) and six times more than in Canada (7.6 million).

If you mean per capita : New Zealand and Canada, weigh in with 25.1 and 20.7 percent foreign-born, respectively. That's compared with 14.3 percent in the United States.

So, second most "immigrated", I'll grant you.

Most know Trump doesn't know what he is doing. Trump has repeatedly called for an immigration system like Canada’s. Unlike the president’s plans for immigration, however, the Canadian government announced last week that it would increase legal immigration by 13 percent from 310,000 in 2018 to 350,000 new legal permanent residents in 2021. This amounts to 0.9 percent of its 2021 population. By contrast, the United States allowed a rate of 0.3 percent of its population in 2017. If the U.S. rate remains steady as it has, America will fall further behind in the international competition's for labor. Most other wealthy countries have higher immigration rates than the United States does. Yet President Trump has endorsed proposals to cut legal immigration in half, meaning that Canada would be allowing in on a per-capita basis five times more immigration than the United States. Cutting legal immigration would harm economic growth and make America less competitive economically.

Believe it or not, new born population is shrinking worldwide. Immigration is showing a trading purpose of diversity strength and economic growth. Global warming has extended Canadains growing seasons by two months since I was a young man. Still don't trust the US coming collasps, they will take us with them.
Plan B south America.

Canada has 43% of all hockey players in the NHL.
Teams from Canada have won the most medals, with fifteen, including nine gold. As of the 2018 Winter Olympics, 90 medals (30 of each color) have been awarded. Men and women hockey teams had domination Oympic history.

Buying a poppy dose not make a good Canadain. Maybe being a good hockey dose, lol. I don't put too much stock into Nationism.

The two most important thing for happiness is your health and what you can forget. I don't regret world war two, and worse the American Native genocide. I only regret what I don't do in the future, to discourage war. Who needs everyone in national debt for each own $ 60,000 to bankers, we never have met. That's right, Rothschild bankers supplied finance of both sides of the second world war also.

Nice example of the differences between countries and we both speak English! Sorry a hockey (do you Canadians really capitalize the word hockey? 🙂 ) icon turned out to be a jerk.
I think immigrants do realize their good fortune ending up in Canada, particularly NOW with trump's racist pogroms.

Sorry, I don’t understand why his comment is racist. Is Downtown Toronto known for being populated by a different race, perhaps people that have immigrated?
In England people from all backgrounds wear poppies, in fact Muslims and Sikhs fought alongside the Brits and so they are honoured too.

Don cherry is like a mild Trump always promoting how police and military are the best people in the world. US military is the largest corporation in the world. Authorities kill more people than the public do and war is the greatest hell on earth. I don't mind hearing about hockey from Don, for hockey is like a Religion here, just don't want to hear more promotions for more pythcopaths, so I'm glad he is fired.

Those last comments were more insulting according to the many immigrates replies, not to me in particular. I do standup comedy, it ok to insult jokes about white people. Just not so much women and other races, I am real careful with that.

Don is really mild compared to Trump.
When Trump stated Mexican, They’re bringing drugs. They’re bringing crime. They’re rapists and murderers. And some, I assume, are good people.”

Some Trump assume are good people

Half my family are Mexicans and no history of any crime. I felt like kicking Trump in the balls

@Castlepaloma oh, I see, thanks for for that.

@girlwithsmiles Toronto is a very mutlicultural and diverse city, soon the visible minority population is going to outnumber the white population. 🙂

@demifeministgal And?

@Jolanta And I was answering her questions "Downtown Toronto known for being populated by a different race, perhaps people that have immigrated?"
In fact, our top 10 immigrant groups are South Asians, East Asians and Latinos.... if she is from a predominantly white suburbia, she may not understand what city life is like here.

They may already done that. East Asians made the largest ethnic group (33 percent) along with South Asians (28 percent) coming in second of the city of Toronto's overall population.

In Vancouver they ask what river separate China and India. Answer :Fraser River:.

@demifeministgal lols, it wouldn’t matter if I came from Tooting, I still wouldn’t know the social demographics of Toronto, but thank you 😊

I want to sincerely apologize to our viewers and Canadians. During last night's broadcast, Don made comments that were hurtful and prejudiced and I wish I had handled myself differently. It was a divisive moment and I am truly upset with myself for allowing it

MacLean has worked with Don Cherry for 30 years. At the end of Don Cherry comments, MacLean gave a thumbs up.
Lol, talk about throwing a guy under the bus.
