This is what you vote in vain for . . . According to Snowden, intelligence services have “feared up” every president since John F. Kennedy.
“These guys are basically saying, ‘If you don’t do X, Y, and Z, this is going to fall on your lap,’ and the implication, which I don’t think they say but every president knows, is these guys can undermine you to death,” Snowden explained, noting that they “can put out stories which are gonna be problematic” for a president.
He also laughed off the notorious ‘deep state’ and poked fun at the numerous conspiracy theories of “some conspiracy of lizard people” explaining that the truth is much simpler.
“Deep state is simply the career government. It’s the people who are in the same offices, who outlive and outlast presidencies. They’ve seen Republicans, they’ve seen Democrats, they don’t really care, and they give that same briefing again and again, and they get good at it,” Snowden elaborated, noting that career bureaucrats will be after each president to “follow up with their asks, which are really demands.” [iranian.com]

Feel free to reply to any comment by clicking the "Reply" button.One of my areas of interest over recent years has been researching the links, connections and control between the US military-industrial-corporate-security agencies complex (which it now is) and government levels, news organizations, entertainment industry -- tv, Hollywood, all forms -- education, and much more, and how they control, manipulate, stifle, manage messaging, and exercise such power in accordance with the US Ruling Class. This is not the so called deep state, but the ruling class that directs them. It comes as no surprise to me that Presidents are controlled from the get go. In Obama's case, you could see it work immediately after his swearing in. The US is not a democracy, but a Republic run by a ruling elite, whose tentacles reach everywhere. Then the soap opera is peddled through mainstream media and Hollywood and the rest to fool the populace to believing the fantasies that keep the show going. I've long since pulled back the veil to reveal the Wizard of US. The worst part is that they are slowly strangling the US to death.

I would consider the "ruling class" to be pretty much equal the "deep state" . . . . but then again, I have not likely gone to the same depth as far as studying it.
Yeah that's an accurate assessment.
The two neoliberal parties bicker vigorously in public but privately cooperate to satisfy the military industrial complex and the corporations that fund their campaigns. The media is controlled by these corporations and design their content to favor the ruling elite and the status quo at the expense of us all. This is why Sanders is mostly ignored in the news even though he is a front runner with massive support.
@Archeus_Lore I think of the deep state as being composed of people in government, the military, intelligence agencies, and the media who work to perpetuate the power of the ruling class, not the ruling class themselves.

I have often said that most of the reporters in the major news agencies do not bow to the CIA, the ARE the CIA . . .
@Archeus_Lore not to mention the news anchors who are assets of the CIA and other agencies.On the air, telling you. I've read and watched former CIA bean spillers talk about it, along with their international crimes and domestic programs. They were not boasting. Human conscience can be a very powerful thing.
@Bushshaker no, I don't. Not mainstream media anyway. Yes, Epstein committed suicide, like Charlie Manson committed murders to start a race war and become ruler of the world. American news cover stories were never very good, and now they're are beyond obvious. Problem is, people believe them.
