Maybe adding appeal to secularism, rather than talking stink on religion, is a more productive strategy for enlightening believers. Just a thought...

Unless under direct attack, which I can't remember ever happening, I don't "talk stink" on religion. Nor do I feel the need to "enlighten" anyone. Do unto others , blah-blah-blah.

Totally the case. But humans are sensationalist - we love a good controversy and a good dressing-down, especially of those things we feel have been particularly egregious toward us personally. This is particularly true for those of us in first-world countries, where talk is cheap and easy to take for granted.

So I don't expect enlightened behavior all the time.

Just think, if a believer dropped the flawed concept of a fictional character born too near the Winter Solstice, they, too, could become closer to nature ..and the natural rhythm of their place on our planet ~ It’s peaceful, healthy and positive 🙂

I stopped trying to enlighten believers a long time ago. If I wanted to do it, I'd market it your way. But I don't give a fuck. Let 'em believe.

Believers are emotionally invested in their religion...I don't know of any instance wherein a believer was converted due to any attempts at persuasion. It is much a waste of time.

No, the best way to make atheists and agnostics is to impersonate the most belidgerant hateful, stupid fundamentalist and harass questioning individuals until they leave.

I know this will work because I just witnessed it working on another site. A hateful Christain scared away a young woman because she was bisexual. I had a small part in this, but what I did was small in comparison to what this one ideologue did.

Ideas are like viruses, if you want people to be imune to viruses you get them vaccinated by giving a weak form. Likewise, giving a weak for of an idea can allow someone to develop an "imunity" to an idea, that will trigger a real response if a threat is observed.
