I find the concept almost laughable. We cannot see 1% of the cosmos, yet somehow we can destroy all the life in the cosmos?

I do not have that much ego.

Do we have the ability to destroy human life, even most or all life on this planet?
We are in the 6th great extinction driven by us.
Would/will it scrub the globe of all life?
Doubtful, we are re-creating the Permian and likely won't survive that, but even that did not scrub the planet.

We will be our own downfall almost certainly, beyond that is ego. we won't affect Pluto, or any life outside our globe.

Interesting referral to the Dylan tune. For sure the notion of tribal or communal shared causality is a real thing to deal with. And if we don't come to terms with our failings as a whole it will be at our peril for sure.

Similarly..in that vein

I wrote and produced a miracle manifestation play in university ( '91 ) titled,"The Boy Who Built the Hill". My attempt at the epic Everyman story. Cast of 23.Was fun. 🙂

Agrarian, low tech, isolated society stuff. Long into short..The Boy is seen as a threat.. in the end the community hangs him.. the hanging rope (pic#3) is made by the townspeople..ergo..everyone had a hand in the mechanism of the injustice meted.

Apologies for the poor photos..quick pics off my wall. lol

Mankind is responsible in general. Those who have the power and deny the catastrophe we are getting into, are more responsible...

If you are a consumer of goods you are responsible, to what degree may vary, your response to your environment may vary if you choose to do nothing that is on you.
Don't expect better results.

Interesting and apt word. We are all responsible. Often politicians sell us what we want and we decry any that try to wake us up to the folly of our wishes. We talk about Climate Change but scream if the price of gas goes up. According to the US Energy Information Administration we are consuming more energy than ever. [eia.gov] It is said we deserve the government we get.

And we will all die.

Kill a man, you're a murderer; kill many, you're a conqueror; kill them all and you're a God. Making a parallel, it seems to be the attitude. The fact is when the last tree is cut, the last river poisoned only then Man will learn He can't eat money. (I know this last quote is incomplete but I think you understand what I mean)

@Allamanda, thanks!!! 😉

Ultimately we are responsible. Once you consider how politics plays a part the blame has to go on those who are greedy enough to extract wealth without caring about our planet. They spend large sums of money to continue holding that position. The only recourse is that the rest of us become a voice of activism to right this wrong - or we just ignore it all and remain silent.

We have nothing to worry about Jesus will fix it and we will all be in heaven when it happens. Actually I'm going outside to spray all tha areosol cans I have to MAKE jesus come RIGHT NOW so we don't have to worry.

Serious food for thought!

I would go further and say serious food for action!

@JackPedigo yes...of course it needs more than just thought!
