If you think this is too esoteric and has nothing to do with agnosticism, atheism and the spread of religion, maybe you have not thought about it enough. I wonder what it would take to eliminate all the religious words from a language and how long it would take for the religion itself to disappear from a society. Just a thought, to quote Beau of the fifth Column.

I'm not aware of folks who argue that English is "good".
I routinely make the argument against English and its' "idiosyncrasies" (to put it way too mildly). Part of my argument is (IMO) that there would be fewer conflicts/wars if we all spoke the same language. A similar premise is that there is too much emphasis (by most groups) on culture -- which leads to most (if not all) "us-them-ing". I don't argue for the elimination of culture, but I claim the world would be better-off with a lot less of it.
IMO, better would be Esperanto, or one of the "constructed" languages :
