Habits of mentally strong people, quite interesting: [inc.com]
I may be guilty of feeling responsible for more than my fair share. What about you?

Whenever I read these lists; habits of strong people; habits of intelligent people; habits of thoughtful people etc etc etc, I'm amazed at how many I can relate to. Do you yhink this could be because I'm so great or perhaps because these lists are made up of statements so general that most people can relate to some aspect of each statement. That is, specific generalisations, the same conning technique used by fortune tellers etc

I’m not sure, the next time I see my cold reading expert I’ll ask them πŸ˜‰
Perhaps it’s because we’re all human, and are somewhat sharing an experience?
I know I’ve encountered some of these issues, which seem to be quite specific, and others have mentioned different ones that they can see being an issue.

@girlwithsmiles I agree, it's this shared human experience which makes us vulnerable to the barnum effect a particular type of con. This link will give you an idea of what I mean [psych.fullerton.edu]

It's similar to horoscopes, I guess.. Plus, some people might be lying lol

@Cyklone I’m well aware of the Barnum effect πŸ˜‚ my father told me about him as a child. I like these articles, they help me keep on track.
What I find when I read this is not generalised statements but an, β€˜either or’ article, where the latter response is deemed more healthy than the former.
If you don’t need it, good for you πŸ™‚

I have issues with 7, 8 and 10 but I'm working on them 😊 I'll be perfect soon πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

If stoicism, thinking your way out of tight situations and a "No point in crying over spilt milk" attitude qualify, then I qualify.

Yes, there’s a bit of that in there πŸ™‚

I think I’m very strong mentally ...I identify with most of these traits. In fact I already know that I’m mentally strong, I believe by my age if you don’t realise your own personality type, strengths and weaknesses, you never will.

What doesn't kill me makes me stronger.

@EdEarl Probably!

I’ve learnt to be, but am still learning, hope to never stop πŸ˜‰ (well until I end 😊).

@EdEarl ...or makes you throw up. πŸ˜‚

I believe you

@EdEarl It's a nice saying, but not always true.

@AstralSmoke Possibly not always...but it makes you a survivor.

@Marionville Now I know why I'm still alive!!!

@Petter Indestructible!

@Marionville .... so far... πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹

@AstralSmoke I know it's not always true. Was thinking it's appropriate for me.

@Marionville, @EdEarl I was thinking more along the lines of brain injuries, comas, strokes. You know, those debilitating things that leave you alive but only a fraction of the person you were before.

@AstralSmoke That never occurred to me.

@AstralSmoke That is true. It makes me think of those that have experienced trauma or abuse throughout their lives. And as a result, developed PTSD-CPTSD, anxiety, depression and/or other mental illnesses or other physical illnesses. Those situations did NOT make the person stronger but they could have killed one-- depending on the extent of the trauma/physical abuse or violence inflicted.
