The Stop Sanders movement has gone public [cnn.com]
This is what it looks like when the party establishment, deeply concerned about the prospect of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders as the Democratic nominee against President Donald Trump, starts putting the necessary pieces in place to try to keep the Vermont democratic socialist from winning.
There are 3 things to consider:
This raises the question for everyone...... IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO HELP THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY?
I'm not sure how exactly the "Democratic Establishment" can force primary voters to vote one way or the other, but, as I've long predicted, the middle of the country isn't ready for Sanders, and Super Tuesday proved it.
@jorj The media loves a horse race. They mostly don't give a flying fuck about issues (although it's been getting better). The narrative over this primary race, as far as I've seen it up to the last couple weeks, has been that Sanders was a runaway favorite and Biden was a hapless loser.
How is that "media propaganda sabotaging Sanders", if I may paraphrase what I think you're saying?
This IS what it looks like when the establishment want to keep We The People enslaved!
First I will say that I am not a fan of @St-Sinner and have come very close to blocking his vitriol. I am a supporter of all the policies that Bernie is promoting - I am not a radical independent voter - although I once was... I marched against the Vietnam war, I supported Jimmy Carter, and once voted my conscience and helped Ralph Nader elect George Bush... as Will Rogers said "I am not a member of any organized political party - I am a Democrat." I once rejected the 2 party system - but that is what we have and I will support whomever my party puts on the ballet. Hell I would vote for Oprah... I simply believe Bernie is not electable - and that has nothing to do with my values. Hell Bernie simply does not have as much support as the Trumpers and that is a sad fact - I don't care what the polls say. In 2016 every poll said Hillary was a sure winner and look what happened... the Bernie Bros threw that election to Trump just like Nader did and they could easily do that again... There are way more Nascar Bubba Trumpers at the Taladega 500 then all of the Bernie rallies combined... then you have to add in all of the NRA gun nuts and the evangelical "right to life" crowd... I gave up on political opinion polls after 2016. The professional political strategists are not dumb - they will promote whomever can win for their party and they know that is not Bernie. Big Pharma and the Insurance industry owns congress and that is who would have to pass Bernie's agenda... and the BIG money will not support any Democrat running with Bernie leading the party... remember "You can't always get what you want, but you just might find that you get what you need."
This is the type of thing that will backfire like last election. Since I live here, look at Wisconsin. These are approximate numbers but close based on the Wiki Wisconsin Election results. In 2012, Obama won the state by 6% and 1% of the people voted independent. In 2016, 100,000 less people voted, independent votes were 7%, Trump won by less than 1%. If any of the pro Bernie voters feel the results of the DNC convention are rigged against him again, there is a good chance this scenario will be repeated.
Thank you. Keep participating. We need your voice.
FEEL THE BERN! Vote for Bernie Sanders.
Is there anything I can do to make you consider the larger good for the country?
@BDair Then why are the scientists saying the US has been doing so much better than most other countries on pollution? [investors.com]
The US military is the largest polluter on the planet.
For the purpose of critical thinking, it would be better to not refer to the logical fallacy -- instead use "raise the question"
Agreed. Thank you for the enlightenment.
Yeah, vote for Sanders thats what you can do to help.
You want me to vote for Trump's favorite?
@maturin1919 keeping saying that is just a fantasy. The Democrats' defeat would have been monumental.
Clearly you have not heard the voices around the country. Even core Democrats are saying they will not vote for Bernie. Let alone the moderates and indeprndents. Bernie is a huge polarizer, not a uniter we need.
@maturin1919
But you want our Democratic Party platform to even matter, don't you?
The establishment wants the status quo so they are against Bernie. But the people want Bernie and they continue to fund his campaign with small donations while everyone else gets its money from rich people via PACs.
If Bernie wanted the Democratic Party platform, is he helping the cause or hurting the cause by thrashing the party all the time?
@maturin1919
What about the party platform? This is not his party.
really doesn't matter at this point who runs against Trump, he is going to win 2020 election. all the dem's lean to much for me into to socialism which never works out well for any country.
Perfectly said. Thank you. We needed you.
Where have you been?
@St-Sinner i am always around lol i just sit quietly and watch everyone then every once in a while.
Does your private medical insurance cover wind-farm cancer?
@maturin1919 But is our society ready? Can you convince them here? The answers I see around to both are No. Therefore, you are living in a La La Land.
That is just great to see trump put his money where is mouth is! Bernie will get there with or without the help of any lunatics!
Bernie, his supporters and his campaign all have inflated ideas about themselves and their success.
@St-Sinner Works for me and you will be fine within the context of it too, relax!
There's a Bernie Sanders group. I say that first because #1 I prefer Professor Warren, and #2 there is no Stop Bernie movement.
I would vote for Warren in a heartbeat.
