It’s time for Sanders to take on Biden’s atrocious fifty-year anti-liberal record. Here are 3 ways he can do it

The gloves must immediately come off when it comes to treating Joe Biden. He’s been let off all too easily this entire campaign, given his atrocious fifty-year anti-liberal record. Blanketing the airwaves to the extent the campaign can, and picking strategic spots to maintain some momentum through the rest of March (probably Ohio, Washington, Michigan, and Arizona), Sanders needs to do to Biden what he should have done to Elizabeth Warren long ago—that is, make his opponent appear ridiculously unelectable, which in fact he is.

  1. Press hard on Biden’s record beyond support for the Iraq War, unfavorable trade bills, Social Security cuts, and the bankruptcy bill, all of which Bernie did bring up on Tuesday night. But why does it feel like Bernie’s critique of Biden only starts after 2003? What about Biden’s disqualifying record on the war on drugs, the promotion of mass incarceration, and Patriot Act-like attacks on civil liberties, going back to the 1980s and 1990s? What about his opposition to busing and desegregation? What about his horrible treatment of Anita Hill? What about his complicity with Obama’s barbarous deportation policy? What about his advocacy of the kinds of financial deregulation that led to the economic crash?

He and Hillary came up with the Racist prison reform that now send Black and Latinos to prison.

This country is so far behind the rest of the world politically. If Bernie was running in European countries he would be just to the right of center. I'm afraid the infighting of the dems will again split the party and dumpf will win again to the ruination of this country. One of them needs to reach across and unite behind one or the other or we are doomed.

Not only that they might vote for the orange freak again:

Now that he is the front runner, that will definitely all change.

With trump we are screwed period!!!

With Biden nothing will change, just like getting half a screw, then they state they will pull out and promise not to cum inside you!!!

The same old story, just more of the same!!!

Either way without real political change we are just outright owned by the wealthy and their corporations!!!

Sadly true!

I think Trump and all his cronies are Laughing at the Dems.
The old school, so called moderate (neo-liberal) Dems have coalesced around Biden.

Say, didn't Trump say that LAST election, they rigged it against Bernie?
Does that not fit that motif too well?
Say, he never stopped saying that to his base, did he?
So he can run on "I told you they were corrupt"?

Did the Dems learn NOTHING from last cycle? They disadvantaged and demeaned the youth vote, and fucking LOST. We have LESS youth participation now than 16, and those youth all supported Bernie, or Warren or people who dropped out.

Now think back to your 20's, how hard was it for you to feel unappreciated by the elders around you? How easy was it for you, or others you knew to become despondent and simply not give a fuck about it because you felt they did not give a fuck about you?
Dems are generating Apathy in the youth vote by targeting Bernie and not Trump.

Obama said it first, months ago, "a circular firing squad"

I have said for months I do not care, I am forced to vote Blue no matter what, by ethics.
BUT, just suppose I become convinced that the Dems as just as corrupt?
what then do I do?

FAR WORSE
What if the Moderate old school Dems make the youth feel "deplorable" again, by having all their media demean and degrade Bernie while championing Biden?
then why would the youth vote at all?

Looks like we are getting more Trump folks. The Mods are gonna shout down the youth progressive wing, and then they won't feel welcomed, will suspect its all rigged, and won't participate. Thats why we already see a drop from last time. Welcome to four more years!

Not only are they ensuring that Trump will win again but they are causing long term damage to the party. Those youngsters certainly will not support the party with any enthusiasm which is exactly what we need and many are going to leave or never join in the first place. I myself am on the fence about remaining with the democratic party. It is just too corrupt and unfair.

Yes, yes, yes!!!

The demos old guard wealthy leadership who are actually no different than obstructionist republicans when it comes to change that never actually helps and assists the people of this country!

Biden just like the rest of the demo leadership are just as responsible as the obstructionist republicans for dismantling the middle class, our health system and our educational systems wholesale!!!

Yes, you are right.

Trump has taken his schemes from Putin’s playbook:

  1. Ignore and disparage the true threat to their success (Bernie).

  2. Create, or exaggerate, the threat about a false or weak enemy (Biden).

  3. Keep the target of their machinations in a passionate state of mind.

@nogod4me Absolutely. I am a cold war vet and I have said from the outset that Vlad is playing 3d chess (geopolitical manipulation/warfare) while Trump is playing Chinese Checkers (Marketing and Branding for profit)
but Trump thinks everyone plays chinese checkers . . .he does not know 3 d chess

If Bernie doesn't get the nomination I'm writing his name in. I'm through with this lesser of two evils bullshit. If everyone voted for who stands for the right things we would have much better presidents and our record of having bad presidents is pretty miserable.

In other words you're going to help trump.

Ignorant move. Thanks for 4 more years of hell!

@maturin1919 the opinion of a Chumptard who won’t show his face means absolutely nothing to me.

2

Do we want the same garbage from Biden, yes he is somewhat better than trump.

Biden support of the establishment, the cut to entitlements, his sponsorship of Bib Banks, Credit Card Corporations, Pharmaceuticals, and the Fossil Fuel industries just guarantee more of the same lost of jobs, healthcare, environmental issues, and over the top cost of education!!!

Of course more of the same is the same!!

I’m just an interested outsider...which one has a better chance of defeating Trump? That has to be the main and only criterion when deciding which candidate to elect as Democrat contender.

Nailed it. People are tired of rebellious characters like Trump. They are ready for a leader to bring everyone together without rebelling against the system and get something done.

That seems so simple and obvious to me too, but we have this crazy split going on. Really crazy.

@maturin1919 It’s called tactical voting and in certain extenuating circumstances...such as trying to make sure the worst possible person, who just happens to be Trump in this case, doesn’t get re-elected, it is necessary. Do you have the luxury of keeping to your convictions, are they worth it, if the price you and the country have to pay for keeping yourself pure, is another 4 years of Trump in the WH ?

You grossly distort Biden's record by cherry-picking. Over a lifetime, we all make many mistakes. In fact, anyone who does anything makes mistakes. Do you want a person who takes no action ever.

We also evolve in our beliefs ad political stances over the years. As a young man, I was conservative. At age 82 I am quite left of center and proud of it.

What are you trying to do -- divide and conquer to that Trump will win?

@maturin1919 NOT A CHANCE, TURKEY!!!, Trump MUST and Will lose if we do our job!!

I agree tat we need a sift to the moderate left. Extreme left? That is a recipe for disaster. It will lead to authoritarian government, either from the right or left.

@maturin1919 I find you arrogant cynicism very repulsive. I am getting a sense from how you distort things that you are either a Russian or Republican troll. Simply put, if you really believe what you say, you are out of your damned mind!

5

If Bernie gets the nomination, I will vote for him against 45.
I'm not a liberal. I don't vote as a liberal.
I don't like extremes, to the right or the left.

Tell you what though, if Biden gets the nomination, all the Bernie supporters need
to get over themselves and support the ticket.
I still hold them largely responsible for not supporting Clinton in 2016, and giving us 45.
No matter who ends up leading the ticket, 45 MUST be removed.
Y'all need to wrap your heads around that.

Very well-said.

@maturin1919 Do what you gotta do, but I hope your conscience is going to be okay with another 4 years of 45.

@maturin1919 you keep saying that, but it is an assumption.

Okay, guys. Enough.
You are not going to agree with one another.

Interesting graphic. If this table is accurate, it might cause folks like me to vote for Biden rather than Trump. And maybe that's the Democrat strategy.

3

Bernie's message of division and hate is not going to win voters--especially center, center-right and center-left voters. I am pro Warren, but Biden will get my vote if she suspends her campaign. Bernie will get my vote ONLY if he is on the Dem ticket in November. I hope his supporters will do the same if Biden is there. He is certainly not my first choice--but defeating tRUMPf is more important than any differences I have with him.

Believe it not not, I am still undecided, but I'm not strongly anti any of the Democrats and will vote whoever is on the ticket. I also see defeating Trump as the important thing.

Straight out of a Bernie supporters mouth/keyboard...

5

If Bernie doesn’t get the nomination his supporters are going to split the ticket and Chump wins 4 more years...

Yes,

Except Biden is a cleaner version of the obstructionist republicans, who will maintain the status quo!

The minute the other demo candidates threw in with Biden, trump and the pharmaceutical corporations jointed hands the stock market recovered!

Biden is better than trump without a doubt, we will be in the same sort of problems as long as the wealthy and their corporations control our political system and have bought the politicians outright!,,

Perhaps not this time around. People are waking up and Bernie supporters don't vote as much as the center-left.

Or, if Bernie does get the nomination, his non supporters may split the ticket and Trump gets re elected.

The Democrats seriously have to decide to play nice together.
