The Coronavirus and your job. Can my boss make me do that?
My office is considering having everyone work from home for the duration, however, I don't see it happening. We are bound by HIPAA regulations so more precautions have to be taken. I take credit card payments at work, do we see a possibility for abuse? I work with protected health information. Plus I don't have a land line, and I have one dinky laptop. It is sufficient for what I do at home, but not for work I do at the office. Plus we are a very corroborative environment, I'm frequently asking for advice of the best way to do something or who I send something to to be reviewed. We have OMG lots of moving parts. I think the logistics of employees working at home should have been discussed LONG ago, by the time they get the infrastructure set up the crisis will have passed. Two of my kids and their partners have worked from home so they are set up and two of them now have no choice but to work from home. The other child and her spouse are carpenters... no option for working at home, at least paid work at home. That type of work doesn't have the proximity issue that office workers have.
In a pandemic of the size this, one’s rights and freedom will disappear along with your right to survive!!!
We can expect to loose any and all rights for the so called greater good, we will have no choice!!!
Stock up the best you can, hunker down, limit exposure to other individuals out side your direct family unit, make sure they all follow your isolation plans to get the infection at bay from you and your family hopefully!!!
Interesting to see what our rights really are. Now we can start to do something about this if we want. It is, as it always has been up to us.
