Africa gets locust plagues quite frequently, but serious ones come intermittently. The Ugandans take full advantage of them to catch and feast on locusts. They are very tasty, I know from living in Uganda.

My former friends and their ultra religious families are blaming this on satan and saying it’s time to get on our knees and pray. It’s tiring and unproductive.

I've heard so much doom saying over my lifetime that it is now just so predictably boring. The deaths of the kennedys was supposed to be a sign from nostradamus, the rebirth of israel, year 2k, the sunami in japan, the earthquake off indonesia etc etc etc. Boring.... And what happens when the predicted 2 nd coming doesn't occur? It's all just swept under the rug till next time. I heard the same rubbish from my devout mother a couple of days ago. My response: nothing happened with WWII or the holocaust so I doubt this is going to trigger it.

Always something

I had heard about the locusts a little while back but the news got buried by coronavirus.

The media reported it in the US but like another poster said the virus got everyone's attention instead.[npr.org]

I heard of this several days ago and prompted a post where I asked if people thought this was the end times because of what is happening. This led to many people commenting, the end times happen about once every fifty or so years. This has to happen so that when people live through it they can make believe it is because they prayed or believed and got enough other people to make the dog not want to kill everyone. Thee were many other comments but that one stuck in my head. I think that there will be more people of religious beliefs killed during this pandemic in the US and so it will be a kind of end times. Unfortunately there will be enough people left to keep the BS going. I hope there are enough people left to keep the race going or we will all become food for the rest of the creatures on the planet. Thoughts?

I don't know If this helps, I don't know where had got this I wanna say some Japanese or Chinese philosophy about being a Warrior, And I am paraphrasing heavily, Do not worry about predictions of Doom, Do not react to signs that something's wrong until you know what is wrong, Be aware but do not take stock that something going on means certain Doom for you, I think it said if you see birds flying as if they've been disturbed for your trees do not worry, It is coming for you, you will know soon enough. Only fools Try to predict the future before it happens. Be prepared, Do not overreact. I don't know something like that. Basically what I'm trying to say is it's the end of the world and truly a force beyond our conception of power is doing it what can we do but throw up our hands and laugh.
