I always break out in laughter when I see a news reporter saying "Coronavirus Task Force" with a straight face. HOW?!? How could anyone do that?!? "Coronavirus Task Force" sounds like the name of a cartoon from the early 1990s. You know, one of those tacky shows that were on early Saturday morning... before any of the good stuff came on..
Trump pulled the entire concept out of his ass. But wasn't it to monitor and "prevent" (ROTFLMGDAO) the spread of the coronavirus?!?
I don't think it's working. Then again, it's obvious that it was just a publicity stunt, because honestly, it's not like a sociopath can actually help others. That's just silly.
I'm done rambling for the day.
In a republic with 50 individual and relatively autonomous states, a federal entity with sufficient powers should be there during a national crisis. Their role should be to orchestrate, prioritize and organize, and to act as a referee or arbiter between states and manufacturers, ensuring that resources are appropriately distributed and that they don't just go to the highest bidder, i.e., the richest states. Is the Task Force ostensibly led by the faceless (if not feckless) Mike Pence little more than a publicity stunt? Perhaps. But I'm grateful for people like Dr. Fauci who are somehow able to thread the needle between Trump's chopping block and the need to educate and reinforce to the public how to deal with this virus.
And who created this task force, Donald Trump. And who leads this task force, Mike Pence. And what is his primary strategy to combat the virus, praying to Gawd. Trump has the IQ of a tennisball and Pence believes there's magical people in the sky.
No problems here.
