2021 is the year I will renounce the Democratic Party I do acknowledge that I no longer regard myself as a Democrat I plan to switch to either the Independent Party or the Green Party here on out.

There is not an independent party. Do you know what a party is?

Good for you. Switch to a party that has no power whatsoever to have your voice never heard or move to the most ironically named party ever.

I'm so fucking pissed at Sanders for not either taking over a minor party and making it relevant or forming his own liberal party to extend his vision beyond his political career.

@Blackatheist1985 Biden is only in the race because Sanders was in it. Remember that fairly diverse field we had, plus 2 old white dudes? Everything I've seen points to Biden not being in the race if no Bernie there, letting the not at all liberal Democratic party choose from that diverse group the 2 old white fucks eliminated.

Thats the real fuckwittery about all this. Bernie works outside the party that has made it clear he isn't wanted there - last time by the leadership this time by the voters - I'm of the opinion he'd be able to effect more meaningful, long term change because both the dems and republicans would need to deal with folks from Bernies party on everything daily, not just during every cycle.

So you are supporting drump.......

@Blackatheist1985 so you understand that you Are actually re-electing trump but it is more important to you "make a point"?

@Blackatheist1985 ummm, Ralph Nader running.....?

@Blackatheist1985 yes and we could have had Gore instead of Bush, but noooooooooooo. It was, plain & simple, the siphoning of votes by Nader that made it happen. Do you think you might want to actually look into that (before dismissing it with words that make no sense!) before falling into that same trap?

@Blackatheist1985 so, punish them (and us all!l) by actions that stick us with drump for another 4 years....Good on You!

Enjoy.

I can count. And I will be voting to remove the Orange Anus.

good on you

Glad you are saving it for 2021, and I might be with you on that. For the present though, I will be voting against Trump who I see as not simply inept, but dangerous, so Biden will get my vote. Not the nominee I wanted to see, but the only viable option to eliminate Trump.

I don't like the two party system, which is so entwined with, and likely responsible for, the polarization of the country.

@Blackatheist1985 then why would you waste your vote?

@Blackatheist1985 Unfortunately one of these guys are going to get in.

I regard the GOP as blindly faithful to their party and blind to their country. My vote will be used to do whatever is most effective for ending the Republican hegemony. So until we can break the lock on our two-party system, I have to vote blue. However, a long-term solution is to get rid of the electoral college and the voting system that prevents a third party from ever gaining any traction. Decades ago, the Green Party was just as useless in Germany; voting Green was a throw-away vote. But NOW, ahah, the Greens have a few seats in their parliament and must, of necessity in many cases, help to build a winning coalition. Shazam!

So the answer is four more years in hell? Seriously?

I will stay Democrat because I live in a closed primary state. I've considered registering as an independent, but that always stops me. I might have even considered switching parties if the Republican nomination were in doubt.

Cast my first vote in 1979.
Became an Independent in 1983.

@Blackatheist

You are throwing your vote to Trump. A big mistake.

@Xenocat You lose your opportunity to help elect the candidate you want to oppose the republicans unless you live in an open primary state.

@Xenocat Oklahoma started letting independents vote in their primaries about the same time. One of the smartest moves they have ever made.

I have always considered my self an Independent and have voted Green in some circumstances even GOP in the distant past. The present Conservative GOP has absolutely nothing to offer me and that often leaves me little choice but to vote Democrat. JUST VOTE.

Same! Fuck the singular party system and the Dems in particular. Independent or Green all the way. 👊🏽✊🏾

I’m with you. I just can’t bring myself to vote for Trump or Biden. Last time I voted Libertarian but I’ll probably just sit this one out.

@OwlInASack I really liked Gary Johnson, and I liked the Libertarian platform. I don’t think they have a viable candidate this time—we’ll see.

Maybe you should move over here so you can vote. 🙂

Now is as good a time as any to give up on the Dems. At least at the national level, they are a fake opposition party to the Repubs.
