Here's another upstanding humble servant of Christ. No hypocrisy here! Of course not. How many conservative anti-gay sex criminals does that make now? I have totally lost cost.

One particularly great book about this topic is Betrayal of Trust by Annie Laurie Gaylor, which was far ahead of the curve on the topic of clergy members abusing children and is nearly out of print, but is now online at : [ffrf.org]

I’ve observed this over and over again. The more anti-gay a person is, the more GAY they probably are.

I have noticed the same thing myself. I now wonder if this means I'm really a Jesus freak!

Can you say, "Mike Pence"?

It is easy to call this guy a perv, and if he is guilty he is. We must also keep in mind not to stereotype all pastors as such. Clergy do have a position of authority that children are taught not to question and so it does attract predators and we must be cognizant of this. We must also be our own monitors and do our best not to put all clergy into to perv box in our brain.
Most clergy are in fact good people that are poisoned with the delusion of religion. We must have empathy for this majority and see to it that the pervs are dealt with according to the justice system.
We as atheist and agnostics are not immune to "group think" any more than theist and we must always be cognizant of this.

I take your point....and yet, the criticism as I see it is not so much about clergy as a class of people. My criticism is that the whole cultural institution that encourages the public to place unquestioning trust in these men by virtue them supposedly coming with a stamp of divine authority absolutely sets the stage to attract pervs who would abuse that trust. It is by no means coincidental. The paradigm invites the problem, good, honest clergy notwithstanding.

@MikeInBatonRouge I agree with you completely. My commentary was not directly pointed at you. It is just a good idea to keep a good perspective on things. Thank you for your post and your reply.
