What would you do/say if a Christian friend told you they're questioning their faith? He didn't ask me questions. He knows I'm a non-believer. He simply said, "Two weeks ago I woke up and all my faith was evaporated." He's sill wants to believe but is starting to doubt it.

In a situation like this, would you go full force into it and tell him you think "this and that" about Christianity and try to de-convert him? Or would you say nothing until he asks questions?

All I said was "Why is your faith becoming evaporated?" He didn't really know how to answer that question and went around in circles. I didn't tell him what I truly think the Bible is all about and why I don't believe. I want him to figure it out himself. If he asks questions, sure...I'll tell him what I feel. But simply just saying what he said doesn't really give me any desire to start telling him what I think.

Would you feel the same as me?

I would have to dig deeper. I know how my journey from faith was. I would want to know if his was similar. I would have a ton of questions to ask, as well as sharing my own journey.

Been in that situation many times.
And I agree, force feeding anything usually has negative effects.

And I never go full force. That, most of the time it comes off as confrontational, and negative.
The best thing that seems to help is to be understanding. I'll offer any answers to any questions they may have. Suggest, not tell, alternate ways of thinking about it. And how I see life and everything through my eyes.
Let them know that I care one way or another.
Let them make the choices.

I left christianity because I found out Jesus is Lucifer the devil. Just explain the Egyptian reincarnated myth of Osiris and point out the biblical scriptures that is saying jesus story is purporting that the reincarnation really happened.

I remember in my early teens, I really wanted to believe in my parent's religion, but I just couldn't.

My first inclination would be to introduce a friend who lost faith to texts, movies and videos that showed religion to be made up stories.

"Good for you. Supposedly this god of yours gave you a brain to think and question. Good to see you use it. Want another cookie?". I'm assuming you 2 are discussing this over milk and cookies. If you aren't, you should be.

@VeronikaAnnJ gosh, I'm so depressed now. You do realize i was speaking to your friend not you, right? Complementing him on questioning things he's been taught not to question? Then backing off and letting him make his own descision? Or do you not get what quotation marks are for?

As for what discussions i choose to participate in feel free to shove your judgment of them right up your ass. Twice if you like it.

@VeronikaAnnJ do you normally have this much trouble when you ask questions? You asked What would you do/say if a Christian friend told you they're questioning their faith? He didn't ask me questions. He knows I'm a non-believer. He simply said, "Two weeks ago I woke up and all my faith was evaporated." He's sill wants to believe but is starting to doubt it.

And I wrote what I would have said. It really is that simple.

I thought you were done with me. Was starting to look forward to that phase of our relationship. Oh well.

Wait for him to ask questions.

Ask him to read the books of Don Cupitt.

For the moment I would say. Wow that's a MIRACLE! and leave it at that. Does he appreciate irony though?

I would empathize with them and be truthful about my own journey. I am not one to proselytize others to my brand of beliefs (math, science, money) so being authentic about where I have been would give them confidence in me. And I would offer to be available if they want to talk more.
