Your world IS all about you. MY world is all about me. And so on.
I humor people who don't share my values: honesty, loyalty, trust, etc. If you're waiting around for people who "share your values" you have a long wait ahead of you, it seems to me. NOBODY shares MY values!

Individualism is very much part of the American, and in my case Australian, culture. This is not shared by other, especially Asian cultures like the Chinese. At my old age I have come to realise that for me to find fulfilment and happiness it is through relationships with others. Many many people drift through life without defining their values. Nihilism without values is the road to isolation and depression.
