Life's Soundrack

If you put together a music soundrack for you life today, what songs would be on it?

Do you need a good melody, and great beat, or need the lyrics. I'm a melody and beat girl. The beat is my attitude adjustment.

I have several DAYS of music on my I phone, what I choose to listen to depends on my mood.

Both the music and lyrics are important to me, and I like songs that have both. One without the other just doesn't work for me.

Have a beat lol .. Detroit techno at it's pinnacle.

@pthomas59 Yeh I am just a production nut and this is very well done.. like anything as long as it isn't cheesy usually !! I am fussy lol 🙂 Music was made for dancing and really it connects you to another way of thinking. . When you play an instrument or dance you are the music aren't you so it doesn't matter how you do it as long as it's your way I suppose. The connection lights up the brains doesn't it !! Its actually mostly live drums and a live jam but lots of loops !!!

Almost anything by Tom Waits or Leon Russell. 🙂

I forgot Peter Gabriel and Joni Mitchell 😉

2

John Lennon - Imagine
Paul Simon - American Tune
Van Morrison - Into the Mystic
Peter Gabriel - In Your Eyes

Social justice, disillusionment, despair, transformation, love

The "Forrest Gump" movie soundtrack, would be my choice.

Dude it all has to play together you need a mix of happy sad and neutral lyrics with fast and slow guitar let's not forget the bass

It's my Favorites playlist on Youtube, from Levee Camp Moan to No Expectations and Graveyard Fields.

1

Dear Prudence-Beatles
In the Light-Zeppelin
Freeborn Man-Jimmy Martin
and countless others....

A life soundtrack is interesting. Do you go by just what is a favourite or songs that bring back a memory whether the song or memory is bad or not?

@pthomas59 There's loads of music that isn't on my top 100 but I can remember where I was when I heard it. I think this is a really neat (can't think of a better word) part of the human condition. In some respects it's like the sense of smell evoking a memory 🙂

Peaceful Easy Feeling by my favorite acoustic group The Eagles.
The Box - Alice in Chains
Heaven must've been missing an angel -Tavares
Blue Bayou - Linda Ronstadt
Penny Lane - the Beatles
Harry Nilsson - Lime in the Coconut

For me it's the melody. If the lyrics have a special meaning then so much the better but if the lyrics are great but the melody/tune doesn't grab me it doesn't mean anything and I wouldn't listen to it.

I get in to listening to music I want to learn to play as a guitarist... I have to play the guitar everyday! I live with a song till I internalize it, currently in heavy rotation under my fingers is: Georgia on my mind, All of me, friend of the devil, Highway 61 and somewhere over the rainbow. It’s the flow of the song, mostly the guitar part, lyrics can be great or meaningless depending on the music under them. Although my band is no longer doing anything we have two albums out, the music I have wtittrn and co written will always be important to me. My band was Ardent Octopus hence the Ardent Athiest?

"I'm a beat girl"...me too! I am usually disappointed to find out the meaning of the lyrics behind the music that I love the most. Example: Rhianna, "Love on the Brain". So NOT empowering for women.

1

I'm more of a beat type person. I like fast beats. I like more pop music than rock music now. I used to be so depressed when I was younger, and I loved rock music Not so much anymore. I'm not depressed much anymore. I like hip-hop as well. Yo Gotti is good.

Motorhead - God Was Never on You Side
Iron Maiden - The Trooper
Judas Priest - All Guns Blazing
Grateful Dead - St. Steven
White Snake - Here I Go Again on My Own
Cinderella - Fire and Ice
Dio - Last in Line

I like the beat of a lot of songs, the lyrics of some, but for me to really get into music, I have to connect to both.

Thats quite the tempo change from ALL GUNS to St Stephen, my car sounds like that.
