I have just finished watching the Eulogy for John Lewis, by President Clinton and President Obama, 😭 HOW did we fall so far from the ideals that America stands for? No wonder President trump, never showed his respects for John Lewis, nor spoke of him... he is not of that caliber...his thoughts would be a complete and total embarrassment before the whole world. We still have people in this country who know what truth is and they will work/stand in it! A flicker of my hope has returned. What have others felt at this time with the death of John Lewis...a courageous and brave American?
Correction, Eulogy was by Obama, Bush and Clinton gave speeches.

Please don't call the POS Trump president. He has done NOTHING to earn that respect.

...in complete agreement! 🤬

I watched Obama speak at John Lewis's funeral. It was uplifting and inspiring. I miss Obama as president and we will all miss John Lewis and the remarkable man he was. I hope he will inspire the next generation to carry on the battle that he so bravely started. We all stand on the shoulders of John Lewis and we all owe him so much

Can we trust the next generation to remember? Or has all the water been so muddied, that the next generation is faced with the daunting task of purification that may take years to clean up?

@Freedompath I believe that new leaders will emerge. New Leaders that will inspire and shake us by the shoulders in to action. They are out there ready to lead and they will continue the work begun by John Lewis. Some of them may not even know yet that it is them who will lead. But they are out there.

@dermot235 I sure hope so, because what we are doing now is not living ‘a good life!’ We are surviving until we can see this lunatic out the door...

@Freedompath Remember Joe McCarty in the 1950's and the unAmerican senate hearings. Joe took over the Republican Party and anyone that did not support his Red Scare tactics were basically Tried in Public and had their careers destroyed. And it took 3 years before 1 Republican would stand up to him. He was the Trump of the 1950's. So this is not the first Rodeo with a demagog that the Republican Party has had. The problem is the Republican party. There is nothing like it in any other developed country. It's time to make the Republican party Extinct.

@dermot235 I think that is a great idea. They seem to bring out the worst in human nature. The Evangelicals don’t realize it, but they are used by the Republicans...there is a lot of punishment which fits right in with Evangelicals and their ‘hell and damnation’ ...if you don’t ‘do right’ mentality! And the Republicans KNOW what constitutes right! Lol The culprits that are doing wrong are ‘those others,’ that want speak their language or adhere to their way of thinking! And they seem to believe that violence and killing others, is a way to promote a civil society. But, they can bend the rules (that would be punished if others do the same) when it fits their in goal to obtain something. It is a way to ‘be,’ that I clearly don’t understand. They want only their ‘kind,’ to have advantages. I don’t know what the rest of us are supposed to do? Capitulate or die, is what it seems to me!

@Freedompath The Irony of the Party of Lincoln that now promotes White Privilege and represents the wealthy and lies to the poor. There are no boundaries for what they can do to promote their hate filled policies. Racism and misogyny. Intolerance and Bigotry are all allowed if it means they can promote their agenda.

I watched Obama give such a wonderful eulogy for John Lewis. It brought tears to my eyes and also gave me hope that we will overcome this hell we are living through. I was pleasantly surprised that Bush was as gracious as he was. Clinton was as always speaking from his heart about John Lewis. Pelosi was a class act and I salute her!

Two of my best friends since I was a teenager are fucking trump supporters and honestly, I'm about ready to end the relationships. Anyone that supports a pussy grabbing assbag has questionable morals, ethics, and judgement. I just don't know that I can't overlook that big of a character flaw any longer. I think my dog will sooner speak than these guys (and the millions of others) will remove their heads from their asses. It's absolutely disgusting.

I have walked away from several friendships due to their unwavering support for trump. It has been more difficult and heartbreaking for me with family members who still support him. We have agreed to never speak of politics again. It is so painfully sad when people who you thought of as friends, and thought you knew their hearts show you this side of themselves. I understand your feelings completely.

I agree, it’s almost surreal that people who you thought were your friends really are caught in that web... extremely disturbing. I don’t look at my friends the same and don’t think I ever will!

It surely brings it home, when we witness such a glaring contrast, between these presidents and others at this funeral, and what trump has put us through for almost 4 years! He would never measure up to support mankind! It is such a shame trump can’t pack up his tooth brush and wife and chill-ins and just leave!

@Jewelee65 they are revealing their true character, whether it is based on racism or fear or whatever, it is a character flaw that cannot be ignored. To be so duped for so long demonstrates to me that you are not the caliber of person I want to call friend.

@Freedompath fret not! November is just around the corner!

@Jewelee65 me too!

@Stilltrying1964 I was half asleep when I read your message, upon re-reading it thought it was really rude. Based on this alone I would assume you shouldn’t have to worry too much about having friends!

About ready? What is taking so long?

(pedantic)
I think it is more accurate to say we know when LIES are being told. . .

Philosophers have been 'discussing' the idea of 'truth' since at least the ancients.

President Bush spoke. President Clinton spoke. President Obama gave the Eulogy. First the first time in a long time President Trump did the right thing. He stayed away.

I have to agree with that statement! At least he did not bring his ugliness to share for a truely brave man.

Thanks for lining up that ‘speaking’ properly...for me! I was so armored with the inclusion of all Americans in their speeches, I failed with the program! lol
