In the early days of the pandemic, the government had a plan to mail every US household cloth face masks. This plan was halted by Trump.

Imagine the message it would have sent, the lives that would have been saved, if they had been allowed to move forward with this mask distribution plan. Not only would it have provided easy access to masks for nearly everyone but it would have got the point across to the public that this is such a dangerous and serious health crisis that drastic action is necessary. It would have encouraged so many more people to do the right thing.

If Trump himself had done the right thing and set a good example as a leader should by wearing a mask and encouraging everyone else to do so too, the damage caused by the pandemic would have been drastically reduced. Even if he didn't do this, as we all know, he is incapable of leading, if he just would have allowed the experts to put their plan in motion, hundreds of thousands of American lives could have been saved. But Trump's meddling killed those people and now, the repercussions of his anti-science, ignorant, and selfish behavior continue to ripple through society.
