Just curious - do any ex-religious have religious tattoos and how do you feel about them now?

I have an "Om" symbol on my shoulder but it's a tribute piece so it doesn't make me think "religion", So I don't regret it.

Om is not a religion Is a vibration sound
Consider it as art

I have a St. Briget cross on my left tit..got it on my 50th Bday..don't ask..

But asking is half the fun? lol

@RavenCT okokokok..I was drunk and still stoopid..it now looks like neo nazi symbol..oy..hate it..

@Charlene I looked it up and the cross looks cool - maybe you need someone to fix it? lol

@RavenCT need to have it morphed into something else..lol

@Charlene I understand. And there are people who specialize in cover ups!

@RavenCT I need to hit Ptown this summer and it my fav shop and chat with them..

Part of the benefit of being an atheist is you don't have to feel guilt over things religious. Neither do you have to fear the symbologis of thiesm. If you like the design or the concept it reminds you of, it's fine.

2

Never was into tattoos, but one time seriously considered getting one of the Deus Ex video game symbol (my current avatar photo). The Om symbol is neat looking.

3

I've always been a none believer but I've seen religious tattoos I've liked.

I think it's chill. These symbols are cultural tribal to give a sense of belonging. I mean if you had idk a symbol of Norse god, it would've been cool, and no one would be weird about it. Same thing

Just a paw print on my shoulder. I guess maybe I'm a reformed Bastist?

Lol

@RavenCT, my current crop of 5 felines might just kill me if I entirely left Bastism. They know they're gods...

@TaraMarshall Well yes!

I have a huge cross on my left bicep...it's upside down, though...drunken design with drunken tattoo artist...he was like, "let's do this one!" and pointed to the back one of my tapes (tells you how long ago)..."I'LL DO IT FOR FREE!!"...I was sold....and I still love it....great memories...never really thought of it as a religious symbol, though...more a "I CAN'T BELIEVE I HAVE THE DANZIG BAND SYMBOL ON MY ARM!!"...haha!

That's truly funny!

Eew. I'd never put toxic inks on my skin.

3

I have several tattoos, but none religious. No cartoon characters or names either, except our farm name.

2

That symbol doesn't have to be that religious. It represents the original sound of creation or all the sounds a human mouth can make. Not sure but I would imagine that there was some kind of sound wave associated with the big bang.

I know ?

I have a 666 on the back of my head is that bad

Not at all.

only if you have a barcode too. A cashier told me that was the work of satan once

3

What’s bad about Om? mindfulness.

Yes I really don't consider it religious.

Just wondering if anyone had a honking huge cross?

2

I don't believe in tattoos. A creation of the devil. HaHa

Actually the Bible prohibits tattoos. But many Christians don't read that verse and get tats anyway.

It's even funnier when it's a cross tattoo 😀 cough cough: Justin Bieber, you fool lol.
