Yes, if Trump can figure out how.
He can’t figure out mask, I’m not worried.

He has loaded up the administration with people who swore loyalty to him first, the Constitution second. That is a dangerous thing to hav with a complicit Senate and a SCOTUS that he hand picked a third of them. He has spent four years setting up the perfect storm, doing little else.

Considering Don the Con told his Boogaloo Bois and Proud Boys to stand back and "stand by".....they are just waiting for the word from him to take to the streets with their big guns and little brains.
Couple that with the incomprehensible fact that the "electors" are not all legally required to vote for the person who got the most actual votes in their state - there is a distinct possibility that this December could go down in history as the point in time that democracy died and the cities burned. Trump will point to all that and say...."see - American carnage....just like I told you 4 yrs ago". 😟
I am holding my breath and hoping for the best......

Viewed with the long perspective from this side of the Atlantic. No I don't think so, I think the US is stronger than that, but you are walking very close to the edge of the cliff.

It is would be almost impossible to pull off a coup in this country. Even if you had the military behind you, that in itself would be impossible, we are so large and diverse I don't see how it could be done.

Yes but being large and diverse, also means that the opposition is divided. Many dictators are there because they played, literally, divide and rule. Personally I thgink that the one uniting force in America is your respect for democracy and that that will win in the end. But you are very close to a major upset.

It is definitely looking that way. That was certainly Trump’s goal from the start, the moment he was told he won last election.

In a word, yes, we are already most of the way there. And next time, the Repubs will run a candidate that is better than Trump-smarter, more self-control, better speaker- and he will take things even further, bringing in full fascism and becoming a long term or permanent dictator. And in four years he will beat Harris or whatever other corporate neoliberal Dem they nominate.

I fear the Democrats will have only one term due to the fact that the countries is in such a financial mess there's going to be pain regardless of who is president.
