11.00 am here in the Silver City, 36.7 degrees Celsius and heading towards 42 degrees Celsius today and Evangelidiot, it seems, has finally surrendered to reason, SLIGHTLY.
Just informed via his Mobile phone to my land-line home phone that, " The heat is getting to him so he has rung numerous local Air Cooler/Air Conditioner Installers for quotes and prices to have a new system installed, BUT he demanded that it be installed TODAY AND without delay."
He was very unimpressed with their replies that they were presently 'pushing shit up-hill' with ALL the work they are doing at present with tasks such as servicing Cooling systems for the Elderly living in their own homes, Shops/ Shopping Centres, Elderly Care Facilities, Schools, Homes with young children and babies, etc, and the earliest they could be expected to install his system would be around the middle of next week.
So HE tells ME that, " I will go and buy the Evaporative Cooling system myself, bring it home and that he expects ME to install it for him and that i WILL do it as favor from one Christian to another."
Then he cuts the phone link before I even have a chance to respond/reply.
Well, imo, he go can whistle in the wind IF he thinks I'm going to install his Air Cooler now, tomorrow or ever for that matter.
I MIGHT consider HELPING IF he had actually asked rather than TELLING me that ":He expects" me to do it.

I'm assuming this is a recollection of this summer since I don't see any Silver City that could possibly be that hot right now.

But that's good because I guess it means you can tell us how things worked out.

So what's the problem? Make like Nancy Reagan and "just say no".

Friend, HE is the kind of person who WILL NOT take NO for an answer.

@Triphid But seriously, what's he going to do? Force you at gunpoint? That seems unlikely.

So say no, and mean it.

@AmyTheBruce Yesterday evening (Saturday, Nov. 28th.), via phone btw, he offered me, in his words btw, " a most generous $2.50 per hour to help install his Air Cooling Unit immediately but I must also find a Plumber and an Electrician as well."
$2.50 per hour, I was earning that back in 1968 as an assistant to a local Butcher in his shop, in the 80's and 90's I was earning over $17.80 per hour as a Qualified Carriage and Wagon Examiner on the Railways, so you guess what I told him to do with his lousy $2.50 an hour.

This is where my Scottish blood comes in useful. I knock them on the head, then tell them to go fuck themselves.

I think I'd toss out a "god helps those that help themselves" as I strolled away. That is one delusional sociopath.

I was introduced to a retired Major once, as I shook his hand I told him it was good to meet him by name.
He immediately corrected me. "Everyone calls me Major if they use my name at all. I require that much respect."
I remember saying, "Well Bob, I was in the service too, I was on a command that sank on a mission. But I'm not wearing a uniform and my civilian experience is that respect has to be earned each time. I'll refer to you like I refer to everyone else, by name. There's no possible compromise on this point."
He didn't bother me, as it turned out he was quite adept at social distancing.

Arrogant prick! But...not surprising.
