That 2nd dose ain't no joke.
I've always done very well with vaccines but 12 hours after my second dose my temperature was 100° and dropped to 99 for the rest of the night and still today ( it's 1030 Tuesday as i write this; second dose yesterday).
I had some aches and some chill but nothing drastic. The worst of it was and this was unexpected was an upset stomach that couldn't decide whether to go up or go down. Eventually it decided to go up but by then I had an empty stomach and the dry heaves hurt my stomach for quite a few hours.
I had to call off work because I drive an hour to work and I couldn't risk anything but roughly 24 hours after the second dose I'm still at 99° fever but all the other bad symptoms are gone.
Still, if you are in a multiple second dose household, stagger them! You don't want the entire house to be down for the count on the same day.
What type of opinion have you formed on Ivermectin?
@TheMiddleWay I thought you were in the medical field.
@TheMiddleWay No interest in med that could be possible covid preventative or early treatment? Really? That's a surprise. I would think medical people would have been all ears on that topic and discussing it with peers at every chance.
@Flowerwall There’s sure a lot of people using it and some doctors are even prescribing it so it must be working.
Sorry to hear of your reaction to the vaccine. Hope you’re feeling better soon.
I have to say that I am somewhat apprehensive about getting the new vaccine. I was in China from November 2019 until March 2020 and I caught Covid-19 which completely knocked the stuffing out of me and at one point I thought I was going to die when I experienced difficulty breathing.
I know that Covid-19 can be a fatal illness , however, I have never taken an annual flu jab. Many years ago when I worked for a genetic research center I had to visit the occupation health department. After answering a lot of questions the occupational health nurse thought I seemed unsure about whether not I was vaccinated against Polio (I was) so she decided to give me a top up in the form of a sugar lump containing the vaccine. Within thirty seconds of swallowing said sugar lump I barely made it to a nearby trash can before projectile vomiting into it.
Whilst working at above mentioned genetic research I contracted systemic septicemia and spent 12 days in hospital. The day before I was discharged from hospital a medical consultant visited me. Shaking his head he said: "I don't understand how you are still alive because your body temperature reached 43 C.
I allergic to a specific drug and a certain kind of food, therefore, I am somewhat apprehensive about it.
@TheMiddleWay Thank you for your reply. When I was in China in early 2020 there were cases of reinfection. There have been a few cases where people have suffered severe allergic reactions to the Pfizer Vaccine, however, the two that I read about were two people who carried an epipen.
The AstraZeneca shot is a "viral vector vaccine" The Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines use a new technology which packs messenger RNA (mRNA) inside tiny fat droplets to instruct cells to make the spike protei
The costs of the new vaccines show a considerable difference in price between Pfizer and Astrazeneca who have said that their vaccine will be sold without making a profit. Pfizer's Vaccine pitched in at $20 whereas Astrazeneca pitched in at $4.09.
I had Covid last month and also got the immuno therapy treatment by Regeneron, so it's really unknown how my reaction will be to a vaccine. I guess I can expect about anything when I get it.
I have an autoimmune condition. When I got vaccinated for hepatitis A and B, I have fevers of 105 to 106 for a couple of weeks. I am a bit worried about this new vaccine.
@imback The purpose of a vaccine is to activate the immune system against the disease. It is not that uncommon for a person to ge a light fever from a vaccine. That is normal. It means the immune system is responding.
The dangers are mainly with persons who have autoimmune problems (over active immune systems), and persons who may have allergies (this is very rare) to a chemical component in the vaccine.
Vaccines over all are very safe.
My daughter is a nurse in a senior care home, she says a lot of younger people are having some issues after the second dose.(probably because younger people have a better immune response, like some flu vaccines we may want to age adjust the dose) I just became eligible yesterday and haven't yet been able to schedule mine.
Thanks for the tip. I used to have a reaction to the flu shot (as you described) but this year took a chance and got one. No reaction whatsoever. Our governor has made getting the vaccine out as a priority and I am in the targeted age range. Luckily, I live alone and can easily take a few days away from activities and in great shape so not worried.
I had covid and trust me this is worth it to not get it. I’ve never coughed so hard in all my life. I would take NyQuil to go to sleep to quit coughing. It was nonstop for about two weeks
