And now, for something completely different. Leaving bargellos behind for the time being, this is my herb garden quilt. The original vision was quite different but was too blah. I like this design much better.

Amazing quilt and I love the room and the bed. Tasteful style from the early 20th century. I have a hutch in the color of that room and painted parts of the dining room to match. Really wonderful how everything compliments.

@Gwendolyn2018 Amazing what one can find in thrift shops. For a long time we talked about painting some rooms in bright colors but never had the guts. When my late partner traveled to Italy with a friend I took the chance with the dining room. It worked so well we started painting other rooms bright as well. One added trick I did was put a chair rail in the dining room and paint a narrow flat section with the room color. I did the same for crown molding I put in all the rooms. A narrow stripe with the dominate color of the room. The color in the photo is off. It has a lot more orange in it. I am always looking for new ideas and happy to give them to others.

Interesting about refinishing furniture. My dad liked to do that and I caught the bug. I've even build a few, small pieces of furniture.

@Gwendolyn2018 Interesting as in the Seattle home I painted the 2nd bedroom in a similar shade of green. Here I also did the 2nd bedroom in that shade. In the master bedroom I installed a guard rail and painted the lower half that green and the top with a textured paint (sort of like sandpaper) in a light brown. A contractor friend showed me how to do what is known as knock down with wallboard mud and I did all the ceilings and the lower half of the dining room in the Seattle (and the lower half of the master bedroom in the island home) using that method.
We used to have a group for people like us but it wasn't used and was removed. It would be nice to be able to show some of our handiwork on this site. BTW, the hutch had belonged to my grandfather. My mother inherited it from him and I from her. It's still here in my sunroom.

That is a beautiful quilt!! Nice work. Your efforts are rewarded with a lasting thing of beauty! I get nothin done because I spend too much time on the internet reading about history, science, geology, etc. as well as time on this site and the occasional movie. By and large tho I'm happy and can play well alone. 🙂

Beautiful!! You're quite talented!

@Gwendolyn2018 I do not believe you, you just got a new car and so you can go places and meet people. I forget what we are doing in this country, perhaps you are correct. At least you are busy.

@Gwendolyn2018 You are filling the void with a creative endeavor. You're quite lucky to have something that gives you a way to account for your time, that you enjoy, and makes the world more beautiful. When the Pandemic ends you will have evidence that you made the world a better place. For now, your life is a quilter, just keep in mind it could be far worse.

@Gwendolyn2018 I started doing some smaller projects just to fill the void. I have done pot holders and placemats. Now I'm working on what will either be a throw quilt or a wall hanging. It is a Thanksgiving wreath. I'm hoping it is done by next Thanksgiving. For the most part I'm avoiding fabric stores (and other stores as well) so I'm using up the stuff I have on hand. I don't like to give the public utilities much of my money, so I keep my thermostat pretty low. While I'm working I have a throw quilt on my lap, and I have several quilts on my bed. I sleep better under a pile of quilts and blankets.

@Gwendolyn2018 I would never try to sell my quilts. I make them for my pleasure and give them away when I see fit. To make a profit from quilting you'd have to sell for hundreds of dollars, and people just don't see the value in them. My kids and grands all have quilts, and I know as they grow the grands will get additional quilts. I make them to make me happy, and hopefully the recipients happy. To sell them would turn my hobby into work, and that is the last thing that I want or need.
